So Brady is most likely retiring. BB might be retiring too, specially with no heir for Brady. The Patriots are likely not resigning most their free agents this year. Specially on defense. Flo was a defensive coach there. He already tried and bring Flowers and brought Rowe and Wiltz.

McCourty would fit perfectly at FS. Ten's Logan Ryan, an ex Patriot, is also a FA and is having a great season, he has outplayed his contract there and will most likely want to test the market again. Those two are no brainers in my opinion. If we don't sign these two all our cap space is for naught. If we do, I can see our defense being MUCH improved without investing much draft capital.

Kyle Van Nuys is also a free agent. He would be nice but I do like our LBs. Danny Shelton is a FA too but I'd rather keep Jenks and draft a rookie.

Of course Thuney should be a priority too.

McCourty, Ryan and Thuney are all almost guaranteed to be available. This is Flores and Grier's first big step to prove the tear down was worth it and that they can successfully rebuild this team.

If we fail to sign these guys we can start looking for a new GM.

Belichick isn't retiring until he breaks Shula's record. Bank on it.

I don't see them doing more than Danny Shelton and maybe making a modest run at Thuney (even though free agent Pats linemen are almost always fools' gold).

And they are going to be able to get both Shelton and resign Jenkins if they want (and they should - rotation is critical at that nose spot) for the simple reason that neither will command top dollar - just look at Damon Harrison's career for proof of that.

They aren't going for any other LBs or DBs from New England. Instead, they will focus on Vonn Bell and Byron Jones and roll with what they have currently at LB (which is more a package-based system then a superstar player system) and perhaps add someone like Isaiah Simmons with the 2nd #1 in the draft. It just makes too much sense at this point.

The good news is Flo has in-depth knowledge of all those D guys and more. If they fit the scheme and Flo wants them, an effort will be made to get them. The bad news? I'm not convinced Brady will retire and doubt BB will. NE will find a way to keep most of those guys.

Flo definitely knows how all the defenders like their coffee.

In general I agree with avoiding Pats FAs. However, Thuney has been nothing short of spectacular this season. He was pretty much the only one holding their ragtag line together when Wynn and Mason missed games.

While this strategy may work in Madden, there are two sides to free agency signings. First you have to have interest from the team (obviously). But most importantly the player has to have an interest in joining the team and wanting to participate in the rebuild. How many of those guys are going to be patient enough to do that? I can't see someone on the wrong side of 30 wanting to partake in a rebuild, or the team wanting older (more expensive) players when there are so many holes to fill over the next couple of off seasons.

I'm not a big fan of Grier but to say he needs to go unless we get players from NE makes no sense. You don't even know how well they'd do outside of that team. Not saying I don't want NE players but they're not the only ones out there.

Chris Grier needs to go even if we get Tom Brady himself. The guy couldn't build a superbowl contender in a Madden Fantasy league with a gun up to his head.

its all politics. Belichick and Brady arent retiring because they WILL start losing, they wont be a top team anymore without both of them. Until they find Brady's successor, Brady isnt going anywhere. They tried Mallett, Cassel, Hoyer, Garapolo and found nothing (though Garapolo is doing great now).

I don't think the organization will entertain the over 30 FA's, looking to get younger. Fitzpatrick was an outlier because of the position and experience needed.

it will be Rosen when we cut him..lol

Brady keeps talking about playing until he's 45 or 46. Initially i thought this was his last year, but i think he's going to play at least one more season now.

I just want this reign of terror to end. No divisional teams in sports have suffered more than the rest of the AFC East the last 20 years.
