Sure I agree that we have our share of holes on this football team, as does every other team in the struggling, injury plagued AFC East. This once proud division is no longer the cream of the crop, the king of the mountain , the best of the bunch. This Division now, maybe the worst in the NFL.
With that being said, lets take a look at the champions from this divsion just a year ago, who also happen to have the Lombardi Trophy. This team IMO doesn't even resemble the one from last season. 2 Rookies in the O line, Corey Dillion doesn't scare anyone, Patrick Pass maybe their hottest player obviously besides Tom Brady, who is in a different role this year, than he has played in the past.
The Patriots Defense have surrrendered an astounding 180 points! Only 2 teams in the AFC have given up more, the Rookie filled Titans and the Terrible Texans. Actually only 5 teams NFL WIDE have given up more points than the New England Patriots. They are the Vikings, Niners and Rams.
The Patriots who have won 3 championships with their D the last 4 years, don't have the same D. When you have given up the 6th most points in the entire NFL and are lumped in with teams such as the Texans, Titans, Niners, Vikings and Rams, your D isn't very good, simple. The game I watched last night? I seen Eric Moulds who has been very quiet this season absolutely abuse the Pats secondary, and although I agree our secondary hasn't looked great, it certainly hasn't looked that bad either. Lets remember Daniels has played well for a Rookie and we might get a nice surprise getting Poole back shortly. Sammy will be back next weekend. Think the Pats would like to switch talent with our secondary right now? You BETCHA.
Looking at the Bills last night, I can't help but to see a team that is WEAK up the middle and VULNERABLE. The Buffalo Bill who for some reason, are thought to be better than the Miami Dolphins for some reason, are yielding 160 yards per game on the ground, the only team that is worse? The Houston Texans. Once again lets take a look at some of the other teams at the Bottom, when it comes to stopping the run. The Bills are lumped in with these teams at the bottom , Cleveland Browns , New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans. The Bills have the most wins of these teams with 3. Yes I know one of those wins came VS us, but we beat ourselves that game and we didn't have Ricky and Ronnie at the time.
Traditionally in the NFL, teams that can't stop the RUN lose football games. The AFC EAST can't stop the run. Pats are ranked 25, Jets are ranked 29 and the Bills are ranked 31. Miami is the best team in the AFC EAST stopping the run at number 19. Not very good no, but better than everyone else in their divsion.
And the Bills who are now in 3rd place, have yet to face the KC Cheifs and the Denver Broncos. The point here is simple. We looked to be getting the Ricky and Ronnie train rolling. So maybe the question has been answered, who are we? If we are a physical running football team, with 2 VERY GOOD BACKS vs a Division that is TERRIBLE STOPPING THE RUN? Things have just gotten interesting for the Miami Dolphins and the rest of us on this board.
We have the most favorable schedule remaining in the Divsion. If Nick will bench this Gus Rot , we have a legit chance of winning a divsion nobody really wants. Remember, the Jets ranked 29th in the NFL vs the RUN and the Bills who lost 19-7 to the Saints ranked 31st in the NFL, both come into Miami. We could lose next weeks game vs the Falcons and still be in great shape. Although I would love to see Saban get this team ready, slam the Football and get a W here. If we can get to 500 and we beat teams such as Denver, Carolina and the Falcons? That would mean we beat the group of best teams in the AFC EAST.
Guess what? This division is very winnable for us. The Pats D is a walking train wreck and hey, how about that O line they have there? LOL! Look IM realistic and understand we aren't a very solid footbal team, yet we are still better than anyone else in this division.
Nick? Please BENCH GUS. I think Sage can't be any worse and might actually complete some of those passes to a wide open Welker yesterday. In any even fellow fin fans, you have to agree, with all the money we have under the cap next season, we are headed in the right direction. And this year? At 3-4? We can win this divsion.
GO FINS!!!!!!!!!! PS======> BENCH GUS!!!!!!!!!
