The Patriots put Ohio State DE/OLB Vernon Gholston through a private workout in Columbus, Ohio.
Gholston played mostly defensive end at Ohio State, but he would project as an outside linebacker in the Patriots' 3-4 scheme. As a fast riser and one of the elite pass rushers in the draft, it would be a surprise if he slips to the No. 7 spot in the draft.

Boy, Bill the linebacker coach could help this kid be his best.... This will add to Gholstons value too, imo, you have to pay attention to NE given their record, and the attention might get Gholston grabbed before their pick.

yeah i posted the samething in the draft forum.. i wasn't sure where to put the post

Lol yeah I posted it then I thought " lets see whats in the draft forum" and then I came across your thread and said " darn you ATV".

I got confused on where to post it like you did lol.

i remember the attention they gave to some players who the jets picked before them lol...i remember that.

the first round pick will be some guy named harvey lol...

as good as gholston is, i dont think he's priority for the teams ahead of the patriots given the other talent in the top of the draft. However, i wouldnt be suprised to see gholston go to new york and see the patriots take leodis mckelvin to bolster the secondary, then go with a linebacker in the second round. either way, the linebackers and the secondary need to be addressed early and often.

They will never pick CB with the 7th pick, the highest CB now is hobbs who 4th rd pick.samual was a 5th rounder. gay was a UDFA.BB in the SB years never had a highly rated corner in 03-04 most were UDFA or Jags.

they had a personal workout with Groves too who is projected as top 20 pick. any way i think it will either me groves/harvey/gholston if they have to take a olb or a tackle.

Hobbs was a 3rd rounder, Samuel a 4th. Eugene Wilson drafted at Corner but moved to Safety was a 2nd rounder, and Brandon Meriweather drafted as a safety is expected to move to corner (barring an unexpected move) was a 1st rounder. Ty Law was also around for a while and he was a first round pick.

To say they don't ever have highly selected corners is false. They just value corners differently than others. If they move out of 7 to 12-13 and McKelvin or Talib is there, they may draft one. If they move down to the 20s and Groves and Harvey are already gone and one of the three corners (Talib, McKelvin, DRC) are there, they may draft one. It's draft value. Will they draft one at 7? I doubt it (which of course means they probably will). But if one is there they have rated highly and he's there at 13-14-15 and they have dropped down will they draft one? I can see it happening.

DL isnt a need for them although they do have an aging Defense.

I think that the Jets will be lucky to get a look at him at 6, much less NE at 7, but stranger things have happened. I read today that Dorsey is back on everyone's Top 3 list as well, so we'll see what that does to the order at the top of the draft.

If the Raiders get a hard on for Ellis, and the Chiefs decide to select Ryan Clady to shore up the OL, the Jets could take McFadden leaving Gholsten for the Pats.

It's not something I'd bet on but, it's possible.
