"A source in Seattle said the Seahawks believe they’re very much in the mix and that the Patriots told them, “They’re going to continue to pursue this thing.†. . . Sources say the Pats have backed off requests for two first-round picks and would accept a first-round pick and a middle-round pick. Though the Seahawks didn’t offer higher than a second-round pick, a source they said they would be willing to trade their first-round pick, which would likely be low in the draft anyway."

I'd rather have Deion for 16 games, but a #1 and Bobby Engram would lessen the pain.

What other choice do they have? If they're not going to pay him, they have to pursue this deal. The only other option is just to hang onto him and let him walk via FA at the end of the year. In that case, they might get a compensatory pick, but the highest comp. pick awarded is a 3rd rounder. And even that is going on the assumption that they'd lose more via FA than they gained.

The organization botched this whole Branch situation. They misread the market, now they'd be smart to take the picks they can get and move on.

Pats offered him the money. 3yrs/19M or 5yrs/31M. Sure sounds like its in the same neighborhood as 6/36, just less years.

He just wants out. Why else the games? No attempt at negotiations? No counter-offer? Accepting similar money from other teams but not the Pats?

And the agent. What an idiot. He "feels Deion is already a FA". Good job, Sparky! That'll fly in the hearing! :D

Hold on now, you all know that this whole Branch thing is a genious plan by Belichick (or however you spell it) see what he is doing is using his great Jedi mind tricks on the NFL because he is the greatest coach ever. You'll see they'll tell you on ESPN on just how great losing Branch will be for the Pats and how great Belichick is for letting him go.

It's the ****ing Patriots...they could trade him for 3 7th round picks and turn those three guys into perennial all-pro's :fire:

I was being sarcastic because you know how Belichick is usually regarded (especially on ESPN, but my post was not directed at them) as a coach who can do nothing wrong and that every move he makes is that of a football coaching genious. It was just a sarcastic/joking thread:D
