He said the New England Patriots recently contacted him. He helped the Patriots win the Super Bowl in 2001

He said we made contact with him during the off season, but not recently..

Buckley, 34, said the Dolphins contacted him in the offseason when he was shopping his services, but not recently.

It's believed that coach Nick Saban is looking to bolster his secondary, particularly after two straight poor outings by nickel cornerback Reggie Howard.

"I'm in the best shape since 1991. There's a couple cats out there looking for jobs, veterans," said Buckley, who played with the Dolphins from 1995-99 and 2003. "We'll see. I always tell them, `If you want a playmaker I'm your guy.'''

Buckley has 47 career interceptions.
