I was browsing my way through different Super Bowl news on Yahoo! and it's comment made from different people when I came across this one which made me laugh and scratch my head. A previous comment was made by another person hoping an asterisk would be put in front of the Pats record after the season ends.

"Andy, keep hoping for that asterisk, it won't be there. There wasn't one on the 72 dolphins record was there? Their season started off the same way, with fines and the loss of a 1st round draft pick. There aren't any asterisks on their season though, so why would there be one for the Pats?"

After doing a little research, this couldn't be more farther from the truth as the Fins traded away their first round pick to Buffalo and the Bills drafted a guard from Michigan State named Joe DeLaimelleure.

Just thought I'd like to share. I love when Pats fans make idiots of themselves. :sidelol:

Besides the bandwagon fans across the country, the only place anyone likes the Pats is in New England. 95% of the population is cheering on the Giants right now.

Of course they do, they are a bunch of crybaby *******.

Always remember, if they win the Super Bowl, they will be the 2nd team to have a perfect season and no one remembers the 2nd.

I forget who, but one of the players from the 72 Fins said that if the Pats do go all the way, he won't be happy about it, but if they do they can park their car right behind ours in the driveway.

See.... your still 2nd you da#n Patsies!

Theres a ton of the bandwagon Pats fans up here in Oregon. Of course, they all claim to be lifelong fans lol

I've heard that we did lose a 1st round draft pick for tampering when we hired Shula away from Baltimore. but it was 1971, not 1972.

If you look at miamidolphins.com though....it lists it as a trade of the first round pick to Baltimore as compensation for Shula. Not sure which is correct, but I could see the official site 'forgetting' to mention that it was a sanctioned loss of draft pick becasue we did something wrong.

Anyone else have any detail on this?

EDIT - this is from Wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt

After the 1969 season, Joe Robbie, owner of the Miami Dolphins, signed Shula to a contract to become Miami's second head coach. As a result of Shula's signing the team was charged with tampering by the NFL, which forced the Dolphins to give their first round pick to the Colts. The decision was controversial because Shula and Robbie's negotiations and signing were conducted before and after the official NFL/AFL merger, respectively. Had the negotiations been concluded before the merger, while the NFL and AFL were rivals, the NFL's anti-tampering rules could not have been applied.

This is what the fan is referring to. Miami was found guilty of tampering in Shula's hiring, not sure what season it happened in. But tampering in getting a coach is a lot different that cheating in an actual game.

Help Please?

Hey Dol Fan,
Do you know where I can find that stat about the Patriots? I hate them as bad as anyone and I have an obnoxious galute at work from Boston and he wants to bet me that most of the country is rooting for the Pats and I just need the evidence in a poll or something!!!
