Anyone see that on the screen. NE must loswe to Buffalo for us to win the East. This is news to me. I thought we had control of our destiny.

NE must win the Buffalo game to have a chance to stay alive. They still us to lose to KC or to the Jets.

Yea that had me confused too, but I just went to one of the Playoff Generators and as long as we win today and next week, we're in no matter what.

wiSo if we win this week, next week will be a three for one sale. We knock the Jets AND the Patriots out of the playoffs and we make it in by winning the AFC East with a win.

so as long as we win next week, we win the AFC East and are the #3 seed in the AFC. this means the Jets and Patriots are out, because the Colts and Steelers (or Ravens), are in? That is, if they also win in their final week. Yes??
so this means if we are the #3 seed, we would play the #6 seed in the first round. from my calculations, that would be the Ravens. They dont scare me much, Flacco is good but not THAT good. They beat us earlier in the season, but we made some silly mistakes. I think we have a chance, but if we get to the 2nd round and play the #2 seed (Steelers?)...we'll get r@ped.

So if I`m right, the Cheatriots can`t win the AFC East and will not get a wild card if the Ravens win next week? I`d love it if they missed the playoffs.
Nope - indeed, if Baltimore lose to Jacksonville and they beat Buffalo they're definitely in as either us or the Jets has to finish 10-6.

No, Patriots are still alive today even with a Jets win at Seattle.
If the Jets win today but lose next week, the Dolphins obviously win the division, but the Patriots could have a shot at the #6 seed (assuming, of course, they beat Buffalo). They would need the Ravens to lose.

Correct. But even if the Jets lose today, they are still in contention. They would (1) win the division with a win against the Dolphins and a Patriots loss or (2) take the #6 seed with a win against us and a Ravens loss.
I don't think there is a scenario where we can get the #6 seed. We either win and take the division or we lose and stay at home. Go Phins! From 1 win to #1 in the AFC East!
