After watching our defense get tooled for not even 15 minutes and give up 27 points, I have come to the conclusion that we need a new D-Coordinator.

I remember last season when we gave up over 400 yards passing to Matt Cassell, and I was thinking maybe we just needed better corners and a pass rush.

But the truth is that our defense is too predictable, and no matter how many good players we add we just can't stop the pass. We're making every QB look like Peyton Manning, and making Manning look like Superman.
 
Any time this team plays a legitimate offense the defense is really blown away. Especially in the passing game. I too would be in favor of a change at defensive coordinator, but then again what we need even more is personnel change. A complete overhaul in the front 7 IMO. Perhaps the safeties need to be addressed also.
 
I would agree with the LB personnel change, but the D-Line has been stopping runs pretty good.

It's not about that...

The defense played undisciplined (ayodele falling for the play action and Mcdaniel getting an encroachment right before halftime).

They missed plenty of tackles.

And they were too predictable, they showed their hand too early and Manning would audible and make big plays.

Our defense shouldn't be THIS bad, we have some good players on it. Our D-Coordinator is not getting the job done.
 
It's not his fault that we have 2 guys that have decent coverage skills(Will Allen and Sean Smith.) Our safeties can't cover, and our LBers can't cover. No amount of defensive coaching can make up for that lack of cover ability. But if you want to fire someone make it the secondary coach.
 
You nailed it man, you guys went up against a force of nature... Manning is a God... fck he's good! Ginn has to make that catch, that's all there's to it, if it hits you in both hands, you must, must catch the ball, catch it and game over, he's the goat as far as I'm concerned, he makes it and no one is lynching Pasquabelli.
 
Look at the problem guys. Gonzo last week , Clark this week! Our LB are having problems covering the TE while in any zone package.

actually the safeties looked worse than anyone on the field

Yeah but i'm confident in their abilities against the run. It's their failures in the passing game that make me skeptical, having WR's blow by you with very poor tackling is just not what i want to see from veteran safeties like Bell and Wilson. However if we're going to address this pass defense i think we have to start up front. I think we need an anchor Nose Tackle, somebody who can really be a force up front, otherwise these LB's will never get pressure on anybody and the secondary will be exposed even more.

I agree we need to upgrade NT although Ferg has been servicable.
I think Wilson thoug my be very overrated. I mean did you see Donadl Brown
just eat his lunch on that run to the endzone.
