Had some homerism so the thread got moved... so dont really feel like discussing who should be drafted where.... But here is something really positive on Soliai

I've been talking this guy up all day cause I saw some tape on the guy and I couldn't believe he would be there in the 4th round. He looked athletic. He weighs 345 pounds and doesnt look like it. (last time i said that about a guy - we cut him and he went on to a couple of pro bowls for the chargers on the DL - jimmy or Wandstedt cut him...i'll have to find his name - Norman Hand)

Anyways there wasn't anybody in the draft that fits our system at nose tackle other than Branch (I didnt see much of him - but he didnt stand out to me like this guy did). And it just so happens the guy fills a need - it makes up for the loss of Hali Ngota - who Saban tried to trade up for last year.

It turns out the dolphins had a 1st round grade on the guy!!!! which means we got Ginn (rated 5th on our board) Beck (we tried to trade into the first round - so he was a first round grade) I think Satale was a second round grade but maybe not (from what I've heard and read we had a higher grade on him than the USC center Kalil) which probably puts him only behind Grubbs and Blaylock at Guard for us) Booker was a first round grade by some scouts. He's going to be the best third down back we have ever had - and I loved Kirby and Nathan! We picked up 5 guys that we had at least second round grades on - that is unreal!!! And better than wandstedt who trades up into the second round to spend more than a second round pick on a guy who has a grade that would make him an UNDRAFTED player lmao (see Eddie Moore - and his career)

Here is part of the article from scouts.com

Miami Happy to Have Soliai

As one source put it to us, the Miami Dolphins war room had a party when University of Utah DT Paul Soliai fell to them in round four. The team actually gave the mammoth lineman a first round grade based on his play and athletic intangibles.

They decided using a first day pick on him was too much of a risk based on character concerns and his low wonderlic score, an issue we touched on just prior to the combine.

Cam just said in his press conference when asked about Soliai losing weight. he said why he doesnt need to....and they weighed him and he weighed 340. Cam said when he stood up he said to himself there is no way the guy weighs 340...."that's the skinniest 340 I've ever seen" which is exactly what I was saying previously about the guy....He is going to suprise some people!

What do you expect these guys to say? That they had 7th round grades on all the guys they drafted in rounds 1 through 4? Of course not! It's not about what you grade the guy at - it's about what you could have gotten value wise in the draft. And these guys blew it, frankly. Okoye and Hall gave the ninth pick a lot of value (considering that we weren't drafting Quinn). It would've been a very simple matter to talk to the Rams and say, "Hey, you want the top DT on your draft board? We'd like an extra third round pick." Instead we fell in love with silly *** Ted Ginn. What a joke.

That being said, I like what I see from Solai. But I'm tired of the treatment these guys get a week after everyone immediately knew they were the dunces of the draft. It's the same kind of crap that Saban expected - since they're professionals and they're geniuses or something, we should trust in what they're doing. BS.

For the record, I never thought nor do I currently think of Cam and Randy as the dunces of the draft.

As for Soliai, I was hoping like hell we got him in the fourth. Plus Soliai represents two things to me: A big, giant, quick, and strong nose tackle and the biggest middle finger Mueller ever sent Carl Peterson.

Cam and Randy did try to trade down, but they wanted good value for the trade because there were strong indications that Houston wanted Ginn at #10. I think they did a heck of a job getting good value in this draft. Of course, none of us will know that for sure until about 2009.

To Wannstadt, Eddie Moore had a 2nd round grade, just like the Dolphins had high grades on the players they picked. Wannstadt was clearly wrong, but that doesn't mean Mueller won't be wrong on one or more of the 5 guys that you claim they had at least 2nd round grades on.

Every team has their grades on players which are subjective in nature. Since different teams look for different things in their players, then having a bunch of players which grade higher to the team than they do to a consensus opinion isn't shocking. You could probably find a bunch of teams whose first 4-5 draft picks ranked higher on their own board then in the round they were drafted.

ginn was going to be picked at #10 by houston so we couldn't have traded down for him. wouldn't have minded getting hall or reeves though

Booker does not have the bulk needed currently to be an every down back in the NFL and his draft position will suffer because of it. Additionally, due to his lack of bulk, he does have trouble running between the tackles and is often brought down far too easily, something that does not translate well at the NFL level. In many cases, Booker’s legs seem to travel faster than his body, making for flashy running, but often times leaving him off balance and subject to weak arm tackles. For this reason, he projects as a return specialist and 3rd down back while he learns to run with a greater base and increased leverage. He is averaging 4.3 ypc this year on a less than stellar FSU team. Booker projects to the third round, perhaps falling as far as the 4th
There it is, read the last sentence in that quote... just like I said. Booker was projected to be a 3rd or 4th rounder.. And that was with nfldraftscout.com and all the major publications.. He was never slated to go in the first round dude.. Not anywhere.. So stop making things up ..

I trust their evaluations more than I'd trust yours. Who are you and what credentials do you have that makes you more qualified than Mueller and Cameron?

So here is Satele too as well as Booker - picks 95 and 97 ... Stevensons scouting service... The bottomline fins13 is, your projections are false , and made up .

Ummm, so you're citing a single mock draft - one that includes trades, no less - as a conclusive source on how all scouts across the league unanimously graded these guys?

And here I was thinking that at least one of them would be gone by our late 2nd round pick. :confused2

I have provided a few other sources if you read the thread, and I can provide alot more.. Booker was never viewed by anyone as being a 1st round pick in this years draft .. The person who started this thread just fabricated that .. Furthermore , Satele was never seen as the #1 center in this draft .. Kalil was.. As it clearly shows here.. No major scouting service had Satele as the top center in the draft .. Some had him as low as 4th ..
