Wow. Has Solia stepped up this season or what. There was a lot of talk of how we should draft a Terrence Cody or Ndamukong Suh in the 1st round. Has Solia finally put it together and will he be our NT of the future? It certainly looks like he's put it together, and I definitely feel he'll be our starter at NT next year. I still think we should draft a NT in the later rounds, but a NT in the 1st few rounds doesn't seem like a need anymore. Thoughts?

Props to Starks as well. He came up big on the Jets final drive.

No doubt about it. I always knew he had it in him. He just had to get himself together. If he keeps it up he will become the starter when Ferguson leaves without a doubt. We sure will have to draft a NT in the draft.

The light has come for this guy this year, he's having a good year, not just one game.Happy to see it.

We will still need an NT. Whethe Soliai is a starter or not...Fergie isn't going to be here forever.

very true but now I don't feel like it is a glaring hole that we need to use a 1st on more like a 2nd

I see us making a trade for another 2nd (not sure if it will happen I guess I just got used to it)

using our second 2nd on a NT would be very good (lol acting like we already have one)

I still want a true #1 WR in the first
Play making LB (either OLB or ILB)
Then a NT

wont be surprised if fergy signs a one year deal and becomes the backup. Much like he was today. Solai was playing most of the second half and a good portion of the first. Dude still brought it playing most of the game.

I liked what I saw in preseason from him. Gets rid of blockers very well now.

I hear that Soliai just got married a few months ago. Maybe she's having a really good influence on him. She's probably making sure he makes it to practice on time, he's doing his workouts in the offseason, studying defensive schemes, game film, etc. Some players need a good woman to keep them in line. Like Adrian in those Rocky movies. :chuckle:

Great game for Soliai. No doubt. I hope he keeps that up. We need those monster nose tackles. There just aren't that many big, good ones around. Somewhat athletic, big, good ones like Haynesworth are super hard to find. That's a big reason he got the big contract with the Redskins this year. Simple supply and demand.

And the Jets o-line is no joke. Dude was bulldozing Manigold. We still need an NT in the draft, but it should be clear that we need McClain the most at this point. We can pick up a nose in the 3rd or 4th with the way these guys are playing.

He's always had the talent' Glad to see him starting to live up to his potential a bit. A NT in the draft should be in the order, and luckily for us, this draft is deep in that department. But looks like we won't need to spend a 1st on one. Rolando McClain sounds about right.

Obviously. The point being we can get one in the later rounds with this being a pretty stacked draft. We won't have to spend an early pick on one if Soliai keeps up his great play.

With the way Soliai has been playing, I don't think we need to spend a draft pick on a NT until the 3rd at the earliest. I'd be pissed if we don't go ILB and WR in the first 2 rounds.

That's what impressed me the most. Jet's have a good O-Line and Mangold is often referred to as the best Center in the NFL.

Soliai also lost tons of family members only a few months ago. He was married recently.
There was an interview over the offseason I liked alot, Soliai opened up and said he felt totally responsible for the loss to the ravens in week 5 last year, Soliai was suspended for undisclosed reasons (weight?) but fergy got hurt and couldn't play. with randy starks playing NT, the ravens ran all over us.

Soliai has been inspired, I couldn't beleive the trash people have been talking about him, because he had like 4-6 career tackles, the man plays a different position and never had the chance.

Its great to see him playing efficiently with his size. We still need Soliai's backup next year, expect to sign a 4-6 year pro and offers something different from Soliai's attributes. Drafting in rounds 3-7 are fine with me too.

But maybe fergy wants to win the superbowl with us next year and can backup/spell Soliai for a ring

I have to honestly say I was one of Paul's biggest critiques, but he has proved me wrond and Im so happy about it. Soliai is playing lights out. In fact our defense looks alot better with him in there. Oh by the waym I think Fergie has already taken a back seat to Paul.
