Don't buy in to the QB hype. At least from this article it appears that everyone involved in this race is still battling and it may still be to close to call.

QUARTERBACK WATCH

Chad Pennington: He bounced back from a poor showing Wednesday, finishing 13-of-19 during team drills over the course of the two sessions. He was OK in the morning practice and threw an interception, but Pennington picked it up in the evening session and looked much sharper, just as he had played during the first two days of camp. Working mostly on red-zone drills, he was 8-of-12 with six touchdowns, but did have an interception returned for a TD.

Chad Henne: He finished 9-of-16 on the day and was involved in two of the better plays of the day: a fade to WR Ernest Wilford and a sideline pass to Derek Hagan.

Josh McCown: He threw three passes in a two-day span earlier this week, but tried more throws than anyone Thursday. He was 14-of-22, including 9-of-13 in the evening session. The highlight was a perfect touch pass on a deep out between two defenders to Wilford.

John Beck: Beck, who threw one pass Monday and Tuesday, hit 12-of-21 throws. One of them was the throw of the day, a long pass down the sideline with WR David Kircus, who beat CB Joey Thomas. It was one of Beck's three TD passes during the evening session. But he also threw an interception to S Renaldo Hill.

This is why I wish Beck got more snaps earlier this week... he looked DECENT against tampa bay. He definitely looked like a good future backup QB. Then he doesn't take any snaps really to start this week, and when he does, it goes fairly well for him.

I don't think they should cut or trade him just yet... I wouldn't mind Penne/Henne/Beck for now... and when Pennington is gone Henne starting and Beck backing up.

Beck is a victim of being a draft pick of the former regime. He knows that Henne can stink up the joint and he's a lock to make the team. He also knows that Pennington can suck as well and he's a lock. Combine all of that with the fact that McCown was also brought in by the current staff and you can see that Beck is the odd man out.

Ooooor maybe it's that Beck just doesn't play that well in games... and if you notice in practice he always does good in the 7 on 7 and not so hot when he had a pass rush. Beck has NO poise and if John Beck were in Tecmo Superbowl, his Coolness rating would be in the RED... haha. Seriously tho, he looks like a cornered rabbit whenever that pocket starts to collapse. I am more then willing to see what he does these last three preseason games to maybe sway my opinion, but my current opinion stands as Beck could be the odd man out because he has more value then McCown, but he isnt going to cut it as our starter, and the guys upstairs know what they are doing.

Having McCown & Beck sit it out for a few days was actually a very good test to see who would be good as a backup coming in off the bench and provide some spark. The backup QB will go through long periods of inactivity but needs to be ready to go at all times.

Both McCown & Beck seemed to be very close in their competition for the backup spot. The next two games will provide more opportunities to show some separation on the depth chart.

I think Beck can be a good QB. I can tell he's shell shocked because of last year when he was tossed in with an oline that resembled a turnstyle. When the rush comes at him he tends to freak out.
But I think if he gets time, he can get his confidence back and can be better than what we're seeing. But then again, I'm not a coach.

Funny they didn't mention Henne's int. to Renaldo Hill on 11 on 11 drills.

But they mentioned Becks int. to Hill...

I still think it would be better off for Beck to get traded and/or picked up by a different team.
Too much baggage acquired here in Miami to really ever become effective. He will do great things, is my hope. But, I'm not sure it'll be here anymore.

Could be the best thing for him. And it's not a sign that he can't do it, but a realization by this FO that he's just not for them.

Regardless, first week aside, Beck is making the most of his opportunities. That's all he can do.

Time will tell (boy, need to make that my sig).

He just isn't a good fit in Miami or for what Miami is trying to do. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice enough guy I'm sure, he's just not meant to play the QB position in Miami.

I think he'd be better off in SF (where he'd have a shot at the job) or Chicago (need I say more?). Of course, I wouldn't mind shipping him to Dallas for Carpenter either.

The problem he will run into this year if he is moved (which seems likely), is that most of the teams have decided on a starter and backups already, so he'd have a tough road ahead of him.

He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

they do that alot. they "forget" henne's mistakes, and remember becks mistakes.

Even then, he'd have a chance to build himself back up over time. Without the constant shadow watching over him that must be occurring in Miami.

Everyone is to negative on Beck. he could turn into a good Qb for us. We cant give up on him just yet

Whether or not it's intentional, Beck is under a far bigger microscope. I mean, he's played a full season in the NFL, right? He's had TWICE the experience Henne has, right? I guess, if you count running the scout team, playing for one of the worst squads in history. Oops, but those are excuses. He should have eaten his spinach and just blown everyone away when they rushed him. Or threw it so hard at his receivers that it punctured a lung (literally) and vaulted them down field for a TD. Dang it, Beck. The whole season was all YOUR fault. Get out!!! Just get out!!!:sidelol:
