10. Jason Jones
Jones has contributed 2.5 sacks, 14 tackles and a fumble recovery, but, like Williams, the 30-year-old’s pass-rushing hasn’t been as effective as the Dolphins brass would have hoped.

9. Xavien Howard
Howard has been a decent defender in coverage as part of a pass defense that is ninth best in the league. He has yet to record an interception, but his 19 tackles and nine assists have been a steady contribution.

8. Tony Lippett
The 24-year-old corner has had a good season thus far, starting in seven games and intercepting two passes, tied for the team-high. His 26 tackles and 10 assisted tackles also show that he has value beyond just pass defense.

7.Andre Branch
Branch holds the third-highest sack total on the team with 4.5. He has also forced a fumble and has the most tackles among Dolphins defensive ends.

6. Byron Maxwell
Maxwell’s season has been defined by up and down play, but his overall body of work has him sitting second on the team in tackles with 37 in his 10 starts. He also has an interception and three forced fumbles to help bolster his case as one of Miami’s six best defensive players.

5. Cameron Wake
Wake has only made 15 tackles and assisted on five more this season, but his ability to rush the passer more than makes up for a lack of production in those categories. Wake leads the Dolphins with an impressive 8.5 sacks this season, and he has also forced three fumbles.

4. Isa Abdul-Quddus
Third on the team in tackles with 35 — and 23 assists to go along with them — and also tied for the team lead with two interceptions, Abdul-Quddus has put together a great 2016 campaign. He has stepped up well in the absence of Reshad Jones, keeping the Dolphins pass defense afloat.

3. Reshad Jones
Had he not gotten hurt, Jones would probably take the top spot on the list. One of the league’s best safeties, Jones’ one interception and 31 tackles still place him among the team leaders in both categories.

2. Kiko Alonso
Alonso has been a tackling machine this season, posting a team-high 53 tackles and 37 assisted tackles. His ability to make plays on the ball carrier, not to mention his game-winning 60-yard interception return against the Chargers, have made a huge difference for Miami’s patchwork defense.

1. Ndamukong Suh
Suh has anchored the defense in a way that few players can, demanding double-, and sometimes triple-teams, yet still finding a way to be productive. His five sacks are second on the team and his 29 tackles and 22 assisted tackles are both tops among Miami defensive linemen by a sizable margin.

Your thoughts? :ponder:

Makes sense to me...Suh is the man, Wake is the man, Reshad is the man, Maxwell and Quddus have held us down in the secondary, everyone else on D has played a secondary role...

Edit: Forgot about Kiko, he's had a great year turnover wise.....(he just isn't the tackling beast/machine/banger that I thought he was going to be)

id move some things around but the list seems alright....id put wake above IAQ

What stands out is the absence of LBs other than Kiko. If they find a true MLB and kick Kiko outside the defense will be very good.

suh

reshad
wake
Alonso
x howard (probably be ahead of Alonso if he had stayed healthy)
branch
quddus

Alonso was a good pickup and has played well for the most part, but there is no 1A/1B.

There is Suh and then there is the rest of them, and that's not a knock on the rest of them.

I watch all the Lions games and IMO Suh is playing better than I've ever seen him play. He had a good year last year but Miami didn't get the best out of him. VJ is.

Member when people said Suh was the next Haynesworth and not a great defensive tackle? Ooooooo I member.

Nice list.

Miami needs to re-sign Alonso and Branch. We haven't seen the type of linebacking play that Alonso has provided in a long time. An absolutely huge addition to this defense.

It definitely would improve vastly!
