Joey Porter needs to step it up the rest of the season if he wants to finish on top the NFL in sacks this year. Demarcus Ware just passed him today after a three sack showing vs. Seattle to put him on top with 15 sacks over Peezy's 14.5.

We have an easier schedule coming up so I don't have a doubt he CAN do it. He needs to not let his emotions take over him.

All good things come to an end, and I expect him falling behind to boost him up that much more. He will get fired up and take that top place again, I don't have a doubt about that.
Bulger better get used to getting hit Sunday because the Defense will bring the pressure after a very humiliating showing vs the Pats.

I would just prefer that he stops being a D-bag and starts being a team player.

I don't blame him too much, he got caught up in the emotion of the game. This was probably one of the biggest games for the Fins Last sunday and he knows the Defense blew it.

He was out there and he wanted to finish, YES it was disrespectful, and YES it was stupid. But don't tell me you have never let your emotions take over reasonable thinking before. It happens to the best of us.

He acted like a child thru the week last week, I watched several interviews where i literally said,' will you just shut the fu## up'. His interview with keyshawn johnson was unbearable to watch..karma punked him last week

ware has .5 a sack more in one more game of play,
WARE also sprained his knee in the 3rd quarter, and might miss 2-3 weeks... he did not come back into the game...
porter will lead the NFL is sacks, but how many? Im guessing 21

Porter does not end up with 20...

With our lack of pass rush coming from anywhere else, teams will have no problems doubling JP, and leaving other guys 1v1...

But he will lead the NFL in sacks...as Davie just said, Ware could miss 2 or 3 games...

I think Joey is all about being a team guy, he believes his team needs to be up and ready for any challange and if you listen to the comments by everyone in the lockerroom you'll see they all love his passion and fire. Joey is the kinda player you want to line up next to and play a football game. He may talk a lot, but his play backs up his talk and he makes everyone around him better.

You learn to live with a few mistakes when a player is genuine in his intentions like Joey is. I played a lot of football and that guy gets it. Don't let the media and un-educated football fans tell you he's a problem cause in that lockerroom he's the glue that binds that team, trust me, he will lay it all on the line for a win and his teammates respect the hell out of that. That's the foundation for a championship atmosphere.

He needs to concentrate on being a better all-around OLB, not getting sacks.

I say BS on the emotions part. he thought he was above the team.

You can read minds? That is fantastic! I love how you would rather view the situation as far more dramatic than it really needs to be and to assume the worst.

If you honestly believe that he was thinking "I am more important than this *****, get off my field. F@#$ you Sparano", then you need to seriously evaluate your bias against Porter that you have been holding over his head all of last year, all the way until this year when Porter started ripping it up and you quietly hid in the corner and waited for Porter to do something for you to complain about.

I'm glad to see that other people see Joey Porter for what he is and that is a "one trick pony"

Someone tell this guy that it's ok to tackle someone/anyone. NFL.com has him at((( number 203)))
in tackles among all players this season with 39.

Zach Thomas has 80 and I don't know if he plays on third downs anymore?

My point being there are quite a few LBs out there that do much more than Joey and when you combine Crowder who never intercepts a pass or def a pass,or causes a forced fumble it shows how under productive our LBs really are.

As for Joey being defensive player of the year:shakeno:

Porter gets sacks, sacks means pressure on the QB, Pressure on the QB wins games on the Defense.

Porter dosen't have a lot of tackles because how they use him doesn't put him in the position to make them after the catch. He is a PASS RUSHING linebacker meant to screw up the opponents passing game.

Remember Jason Taylor, he wasn't all that good against the run either, but this team is using Joey to replace what JT was able to do, and that is disrupt the passing game.

I would rather have an all around LB that can get tackles, sacks, forced fumbles, defend passes and even interceptions. There are players that provide a better balance and are in my opinion better than a one trick pony as they ...take a look at players such as Willis,Dansby,Harrison,
James Harrison is a good olb that can tackle plus do something elseHe has 70 tackles vs 39 for Joey
Harrison has 12 sacks versus 14.5 for Joey
Harrison has 1 safety versus 0 for Joey
Harrison has 4 passes defende versus 0 for Joey
Harrison has 1 interception versus 0 for Joey
Harrison has 4 forced fumbles versus 3 for Joey

Thats just one player used as a comparison but there are quite a few more OLBs having better ALL-AROUND seasons.

In closing GOOD TEAMS need a LB that can do more than 1 thing and this team has a group of LBs that are in need of an infusion of speed, strength, and most of ALL playmaking abilities that go beyond 1 thing.

Well, if Trent would've held onto the ball, Joey would've had a safety :D
