After four run-of-the-mill seasons with the Texans, back-up linebacker Charlie Anderson came to the Dolphins hoping a change of scenery and new coaching staff might ignite his career.
So far, it hasn’t worked out that way.
Anderson has the perfect combination of size (6-4, 250) and speed to be an effective 3-4 outside linebacker. He also continues to make mistakes at an alarming rate for a regime that doesn’t seem to have a high level of tolerance for them.

When your getting beaten out by Matt Roth it does'nt say a whole lot.

exactly.
Also so far we have not done a good job at ALL on FA pick ups. VERY BAD JOB so far. this isnt looking good in my eyes but I'm not surprised b/c we cheaped out and went for a lot of players that have somewhat "potential" but haven't proved jack **** or after players that are too one dimensional, for instance, Wilford good hands (or supposedly before miami) but was slower then booker, Anderson good speed and size but hardly gets to the QB b/c lack of moves and agility and more of a north south guy without much past that which is why he was mainly a pick up for ST.

Yep, outside of Smiley this has been a fairly awful crop of signed free agents.

which is why we really need to sign better f/a next offseason. this was my only gripe about this coaching staff and front office.

try to draw any interest from a player to join a former 1-15 team... Smiley was a good signing and he got good money, all the other ones were signed for cheap contracts and the staff saw a small glimpse of potential, enough to sign them and slightly improve the roster, hoping for an upcoming discovery ...

IMO, this staff has been tremendous, and i would've said perfect had they not signed wilford for 6mil ...

Well as far as the FA go, you have to consider things from the GM, and coaching staffs side. They could only do so much in one off season. The Market isn't that deep with talent unless you're willing to spend 100 mil. I think the Dolphins took a few chances and some worked out and soe didn't. I think with the development of the rookies and young players already on the team and another off season, we'll be a little better at getting the players that fit what it is they are trying to do. If this were their 3rd season of failed FA additions I could see being worried, but not at this point. Besides we really don't know how much influence BP had this off season with the FA's, maybe he gave JI the keys to the Vett just to see if he could handle it. Maybe BP has a little more to say next season when it comes to the FA additions and how you pay them. Cause giving Wilford as much as they did just doesn't wreak of a BP type of move.

When Bill was with Dallas he doesn't build his teams with to many FA. He wants to do it through the draft. Just take a look at our starting line up, there are more rookies starting than FA.

I agree with JT, most of the signings were guys with potential upsides to them, although most have reasons they were let go. For the most part they were signed to provide better depth than we have had the past few years.

Starks has been pretty solid for us, Pennington, & Bess he was still a FA signing.

I forgot about Starks for a minute. You're right, "Iron Man" has been pretty good for us.

most of the FA's are just stopgaps. Bill Parcells likes to build his teams through the draft
