"the actual value of the deal is between $7.50-$8 million"
...
"Pennington's deal will reach $11.5 million only if highly improbable things happen --
like if the Dolphins win the Super Bowl
or Pennington is the MVP
or leads the NFL in TDs."
My comments: If any of those things happen... we would all be on cloud 9... and he would deserve that money.
Unclear what the signing bonus is. This is a pretty cheap contract. Trent Green made something like $7 million from us last year... so did Culpepper the year before. So Pennington's getting half that amount, and didn't cause us any draft pick.
Every once in a while, good things come to those who wait. I am very hopeful that this is the case this time with Pennington.
It also buys us more time to develop Beck and Henne... more time to get used to that 3-second-buzzer. :)
