It's no secret that we are stuggling and we need a shake up. I think we would all agree that the offensive play calling has been unlogical and ineffective. Instead of switching this player for that player on offense, I think the following course of action would be better for the phins.

Pennington is Hurt and his playing career is probably done. Why not cut him and hire him as the QB Coach.

Fire Henning and promote David Lee to OC.

Sign a FA QB to fill the #3 slot and let's see what we've got.

Pennington might not have had the physical skills to compete with the Manning's, Farve's, and Bree's of the NFL but he had the knowledge, understanding, and study habits that made him a good QB. Why not use those talents to coach our young QB's ?

David Lee was the originator of the Wild Cat...not Henning. Henning got all the credit last year for the wildcat but honestly without Lee we would have been in trouble last year. I think with Lee's creativity we would have at least some excitement out of our offense instead of what we are seeing now. Run, Run, Run Punt. Run Run, Screen, Punt, Screen Run, Run Punt. Screen, Swing pass, Run Punt. Wildcat sweep, Wild Cat dive, comeback pass, punt.

What do you all Think?

David Lee did not originate the wildcat. He got it from Gus Malzalm former coordinator at Ark and current at Auburn.

Lee has never proven to be ready to be an OC at this level in all these years so not sure he should move up.

I def agree that penny if his career is over should be a qb coach, he has said he wants to coach and there isn't a better place to start imo.

You pretty much nailed it, i would add if Pennington did sign on as a coach, it would not necessarily have to be as a QB coch. He could you just sign on as an assistant coach. This way there would be no shake up to our OC or QB Coachs.

But knowing how competitive Pennington is, I would venture to say he will try to make another comeback next year. Unfortunately I dont think it will be with us :(

Jets fans have been saying the same thing for the past 2-3 years.

But Pennington has publicly said that he wants to coach high school football.

I could see Parcells doing something like this...I just don't think they will throw him out like used garbage. They will compensate him somehow and hopefully he will be back with this organization in some capacity

i agree with that idea. i think lee would be good, cos i think that if we don't make him OC then another team will. also i think chad would be great at QB coach.

Keep in mind, coming off another shoulder injury, Penny will not get much interest in the FA market for next year. I for one would love to have him here as a backup/mentor for a much reduced salary. He is always welcome here for the right price.
