I just want to say how much I appreciate Penny as a person and a leader.

I've been hard on him for his physical limitations, how as a QB he limited the offense -- requiring high levels of imagination and greater effort for the team. Well, this caused some ppl to think I hated Penny, and that never was the case. I've always thought well of him -- not only that, but I'm on record as saying Penny was the best QB on this team, right now.

In spite of his limitations, he gave the Phins the best chance to win. Would I have chosen him, as GM or coach? No. Probably not. But one cannot take away from him his obvious character or leadership...

Anyway, I just hated to see the look on his face after his injury. It was a sickening thing -- freak injury, not hit hard, just wrong way. And then to see the realization hit him that this was probably another surgery... it just was hard to watch. You have to pull for him at a time like this.

So, because I've been hard on him in the past [re: limitations] I want to also go on record as to say how much I appreciate him as a leader, and quality person. He's at the top of the shelf -- great American and football player. He's the kind of guy you want around your football team, in some kind of staff/coaching/leadership position.

Great man, if not a great QB.

So here's to you, Penny. Thanks for all you've brought to the Phins!

This here's a toast to Penny: To Penny, a consummate professional! Hear! Hear! Clink. Sip. Nod.

:thanks: Thank you!

Pennington made a huge fan out of me. I am truly saddened to see his career end like this. He just couldn't catch the breaks, yet a douche like Favre was blessed with good fortune to never get injured. That's how the cookie crumbles I guess.

I hope he goes on to have a stellar coaching career...

Again, I thank Pennington for all he did in helping change the culture of the Dolphins. I wish him the best in his post football future.

I think that's well said. Even as a Bills fan and though he had his limitations, I always respected the hell out of Pennington. I find it funny that some Jets and Fins fans can bash the guy. Let's be honest here: the Bills, Jets, and Fins have sucked most of this decade. The only time the Jets and Fins made the playoffs, there was one common factor: Pennington.

good player and good guy. Nothing but respect from this Bills fan.

He will always hold a special place for me when it comes to Dolphin history. He was part of rescuing this franchise when it couldn't get any lower and for that, I will forever be in his debt.
Without him last season, we would have been a six-win team, at best. He made this franchise respectable again and did it in a professional, classy way.

I don't know if his playing days are over or not, but he certainly can look back with no regrets on a career he should be very proud of.

I can't thank the guy enough for the leadership he brought to the offense. Imagine if we would've been stuck with Josh McCown last year, I garuntee we would not have been AFCE champs. Although his style doesn't make it too hard for d coordinators to come up with a game plan, he still found a way to lead us to 11 victories with a little help from the wildcat. The guy worked hard this offseason and it really ticks me off to see this happen to these kind of players. And like the first guy said, the look he gave just tore me apart....and ripped the hope I had built up all offseason right out of me. I have been a Pennington supporter since the day he arrived and haven't bashed him once although being frustrated at times about challenging the vertical passing game. Thank you Chad for making the Miami Dolphins the 2008 AFCE champs, that is the best season I have seen from them since I can remember and it will be one I remember for a while.
