Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Miami Dolphins are exploring trade options for WR Mike Wallace.

While there has been a lot of talk that the Dolphins could release Wallace outright, Miami appears to be considering all of their options at this point in time.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported last night the Dolphins have been discussing a pay cut with Wallace in recent days.

However, Jackson mentioned the two sides have some time to figure this out before Wallace’s salary becomes guaranteed on March 15. Jackson adds that this situation “could go either way.”

Wallace’s 2014 season reportedly ended with him asking out of the game, and there were already concerns about his work ethic and overall production, which has led some to suggest that Wallace could be a cap casualty.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Wallace outright would free up $2.5 million in cap space next year, but would also create $9.6 million in dead money.

However, trading Wallace would boost their cap saving to $5.5 million and reduce the dead money to $6.6 million, according to OTC’s cap calculator.

If they do part ways with Wallace, I hope Hickey has a plan in place to replace him and recoup some cap space. He&Tanne are just not a fit for each other.

Devante Parker, You're the latest draft choice by the Miami Dolphins Come on down!

If you cut him or trade him, you have to have a better plan in place than the one in 2012 when you cut Marshall. I think that is the biggest concern.

But this is all speculation. I'm guessing Ian Rappaport mentioned something on the tv show because there is nothing about this on his twitter and these sites look bootleg as hell.

It'll be interesting to see what the FO does now that this story has started. Last year they came out right away and squashed them. If they dont do it again this year I think it's a lot more plausible.

what's worse will be if we replace it with similar skill set in the draft...if you lose mike wallace don't replace it with similar skill set...please don't...you let it go and you bring in similar player and you need 2 pieces not one but 2 and you better hope like hell that similar piece is ready to hold up it's end of the bargain from the get go

He said it on NFL Total Access just a bit ago.

It will take a long time to trade hm if it happens, you'd have to wait until teams are done spending, and free agent WRs are dried up, than MAYBE a team will trade for him.

Its possible I guess. There is a lot of $ to be spent this off season. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Seattle is the one team that would put up with his antics, is in need for a #1 WR badly, and would probably take the contract and not blink.

But, will they "trade" for him when they could just wait and see if Miami gets rid of him for nothing

It's not going to happen, however if Miami could trade Wallace for a decent second and a third round pick I would consider it.
