Wow. Sucks for Seattle. Doesn't that take a long time to get back on the field? As time goes on and we watch/question Ireland's moves. It appears he is getting the last laugh more often than not.

Yup and add his drafts to that. Not sure there is a GM that has had that much more greater a few years than Ireland. Definitely deserves a long extension.

Not really sure what this has to do with Ireland?

I think this was brought up because everyone talks about how great of a pick up Harvin was for the Seahawks and all the media hype surrounding it. In turn undermining our pick up of Wallace. Well if Harvin has surgery then the Seachickens are going to be missing their new toy for a while.

I think that might be the point of this post??? OP?

I took it as another Matt Flynn-esque sign that Ireland didn't go for. It's has all to do with Jeff.

Exactly gents. Sorry - was posting from work so I had to keep it short. Every Ireland move, or lack there of, has been critiqued from the Browns WR in the supplemental draft, to Wallace being a costly pickup for a one trick pony. Ireland has had his share of misses but he is looking pretty good these days.

The Dolphins began applying the full-court press on Flynn, who spent four years working under new coach Joe Philbin in Green Bay, after Manning turned down the team's advances Thursday. The Seahawks hosted Flynn on a visit earlier this week, but he left without signing a contract and arrived in South Florida on Saturday morning.

Sources say both sides hope to finalize terms on a contract that could make Aaron Rodgers' former backup quarterback Miami's next starter.

Joe Philbin doesn’t like the perception that the Dolphins didn’t aggressively pursue free agent quarterback Matt Flynn.

Philbin, the Dolphins head coach who spent the last four years coaching Flynn in Green Bay, was asked by a reporter today why he didn’t pursue Flynn as aggressively as many people thought they would. And Philbin said people who think the Dolphins didn’t pursue Flynn aggressively are wrong.

If people want to give Ireland credit for all the moves he didnt make, then i suppose its fair to slam him for all the moves he never made. Ireland deserves to be fired for not trading for Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Calvin Johnson, and Adrian Peterson(!!!!).

Anyways, back in reality, this sucks. There are a ton of fascinating stories floating around this season but the arms race between Seattle and San Fran is near the top of the list(though personally, the non-Dolphins related story i cant wait to watch is Jacksonville vs Oakland, i think they could give the 2008 Lions a run for their money). I suppose this sort of evens out the Crabtree injury, but man, id have preferred to watch those two teams beat each other into oblivion.
Its looking more and more like Harvin will be done in the NFL a few years from now. I still think the trade was worth the risk(though there was no doubt Minnesota won it at the time) but the plethora of injuries are starting to add up. And its not like Harvin was built to last anyways. Cant see him living up to his contract. Unfortunate for the team, but i cant blame Seattle for giving it a try.

I don't believe for a second that the team pursued Flynn aggressively. I think the Dolphins knew exactly who they wanted, and it wasn't him. I think Joe Philbin is trying to avoid taking shots at a guy he worked with for four years and probably remains friendly with.

Heck, right after the Seahawks signed Flynn, the guy's dad gave an interview in which he said Matt wanted to be a Dolphin but that the team was lukewarm about it.

That said, the notion that Jeff Ireland deserves credit for not trading for Percy Harvin because the guy injured his hip in camp is bizarre.

In my opinion Percy Harvin has been a NFL bust, the guy was awesome in Florida but then he ran into the constant Migrane bouts and just hasnt lived up to his potential
