Quickly, let me start by saying, No, I dont want to draft him with our 1st pick. I really think we need a CB with our 1st pick.

Now, that thats out of the way....

Did you guys see the film of Percy's workout? WOW!:jawdrop:

He looked very very impressive. Ran Fast, Caught very well. And Damn is that guy Ripped or what?

Where do you think he will end up? I want someone to start a drugs rumor about him or something, to have him slip into the 2nd round for us :)(will never happen, and I know we are looking for a tallish receiver).

Harvin isn't falling anywhere. The Jags are considering him at #8 if Monroe and Maclin aren't there. People will come around on Harvin when they realize what they are talking about, just like the Johnny come latelies who had their doubts last year about Jake Long and his ability to play LT.

im not high on percy at all...i think he will be at best a slot receiver and kick return specialist...we already have one of those (ted ginn, albeit not in the slot)

we dont need another wr bust in the 1st round...see randill hill, yatil green, ted ginn

and fwiw, when was the last time a Gator receiver panned out in the NFL???

Enough is enough! Ted Ginn is in no way on the same level/comparable to Percy Harvin. That would be like comparing Randy Moss to Steve Smith (Panthers). They both are extremely fast (duh?!) but Randy's speed comes from a loooooong stride (ie Ted Ginn) and Steve Smith's speed comes from fast feet (turnover). You won't see a long strider catch a hitch or bubble and take it to the house very often because they have to get to their "top speed". Hence why most of Ginn's highlghts coming out of college were of him getting the ball with enough space or in stride where he would already be near top (world class) speed.

Percy has been playing his entire career as one of the focal points of the team the second he stepped on campus. He's played through injuries simply because the team needs him. And to be honest, him playing less than 100% for 3 years, in the SEC and still being one of the most explosive and feared players in the country, doesn't seem like much of a drawback.

Speed is Speed. When it comes to running track, but in football terms, there's alot more that goes into it.

Disclaimer: I'd love if we got Percy for obvious reasons, but but we already have an up and coming stud at the slot. I would choose Nicks if I had the choice because he too is freakish and fits a more pressing need. But the Percy bashing and false comparisons show that some people just haven't been watching their college football the past couple of years

I agree with most of that, but I don't like the Moss/Smith example. For one reason, Moss does take it to the house- a lot. But the other stuff you're dead on.

He is a freakish athlete, a monster to defend.

While I would love to grab him, it would mean us not grabbing a CB or an OLB. Which IMO is more a need then WR. OLB less then CB of course.

percy is top 20 material. He's a freak, he's confident, he's got good character, comes from a big program, played a lot of football, he's versatile. of course, he's doesn't have typical WR skill set (route running, etc) but think of him as a rey maualuga version of an offensive player: a "free-stylish" player with crazy ability to make big plays. Those guys tend to be drafted early IMO, check reggie bush for that matter, or our own ted ginn (i'm not comparing the two here, not at all, i think they are very different, but their stock got/will get helped by their big play ability)
