Recap;
With 1:48 left on the clock, Jags down by 1, Jags had the ball on the Jets 10, need 6 yds for the 1st down and 10 1/2 yds for a TD. Jets have no time out left.
Jags rb Jones got the ball, straight up the middle, had a clear path to the end zone. A TD was not in question.
What did he do...after he passed the 4 yd line, secured a first down, he stopped, took a knee on the one yd line. DID NOT run in for the sure TD. Thus Jags let the clock ran down the to 1 secs left, called TO, then kicked a cheap shot FG for the win.

OMG, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant,,,

Other plays that have the same caliber ,
Marino fake spike
The hook and pitch againt SD in the early 80s
And of cause, Shula called to run back to EZ instead of punting.
Can you think of any??

On top of it all, it was against the Jets, can't get much better than that.

Its a much better play if they're up one rather than down one. He would of really felt foolish if they had that kick blocked. I'm sure Bucs' fans still remember losing that game to Carolina where Jenkins blocked the fg and extra point attempt.

Similar plays have happened before. Here is one by Westbrook in 2007 (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3158572). I remember because I had him on my fantasy team.

Smart play. Its ballsy when you're not winning since your kicker could miss, but if it works you look like a genius.
Think about the alternative.. if he ran in, Jets could receive the kick off with about 1:35 left. Thats plenty time left. With a decent return, couple medium passes, you are in FG range.

Weighting the two scenarios, I take the cheap shot FG anytime.
