when I first head of the thought of Perriman being a potential pick for us at 14 I hated the idea. he is the type of body we need and he has speed. he needs work, but what other wr other than the top 3 would be worth that pick? I love the idea of a Dorsett later but we need size. With the draft a week away I don't know what the hell to think anymore.... and 14 is way to rich for Agholor imo, but would upgrade the return game and fits the scheme better. hell idk anymore. im still really intrigued by dgb, the guy is a lot more talented than the two above

edit: I should say I don't like him at 14 but if we trade down I wouldn't mind it as much

Ehhh... can he learn to catch? Get better at the nuances of the game? were the drops on the qb or him? body catcher?

I'm just very iffy

I had the same thoughts after watching that same video literally 10 minutes ago.

I've since cooled down and am against picking him at 14 again.

By Albert Romano:
"Those reasons? The staffer said Perriman dropped too many balls, has a troublesome injury history and doesn't run as fast on the field as he does on the track. Perriman, who posted 40-yard dash times of 4.24 and 4.27 at his pro day, ranked as the No. 3 receiver in the class according to Football Outsiders' Playmaker Score metric, which compared him to Kenny Britt and Darrell Jackson. Perriman put up stats with and without Blake Bortles, it's important to note. Apr 21 - 8:01 PM

By Sons of Shula:
"Raw in his routes, relying on speed and athleticism over any precision. Rounds routes and is inconsistent at selling and finishing routes that don't involve him as primary target. Sits and waits on the throw rather than working back to it. Redirected in his routes more than expected for receiver his size. Disappointing hands that might always haunt him. Slow catch readiness, allowing too many throws to beat him up. Too much double catching and his focus drops over second half of the season were maddening to watch.

That's just a cut & paste from NFL.com but you get the picture of my dislike for him."

I would take him if The top 3 Wrs are gone. Bit worried about his catching tho

I like dgb better as a talent, but we will not have the balls to pull the trigger. I know a lot of fans wouldn't like that pick, but DGB is a flat out talented, and has a ton of room to grow

Unlike McShay and Kiper who have been riding the Perriman train, mainly do to his 40 time, I think his route running and hands needs lots of work. I would rather take a Jaelen Strong, if we go WR after the top three WR are gone.

Highlight videos are great for well, highlights. Every player has weaknesses and they obviously will not be shown on a highlight reel.

Let's get picky here. If you really want to breakdown a player you need their game tape. For WR: I want to see his burst off the line; I want to see how he deals with press; I want to see how his cuts and breaks within his routes; I want to see him adjust to poorly thrown balls; I also would prefer to see a more developed route tree than just a few post, seam, corner and fly routes than what was presumably given here. (I think I spotted a slant but it was after his break). One of Tannehill's best throws is the comeback, which we feature a lot, and I didn't see one from Perriman.

Concerning his highlight film he made some decent catches but what I didn't like for a player his size was his seemingly inability to high point the ball and in turn negating possible yards after the catch. He would make a good effort to jump for the ball but would almost always make the catch on the way down as opposed to attacking the ball at it's highest possible point. And for a player who posted a fancy 40, he didn't seem to gain that type of separation from defenders after the catch. He did show good body control and catch radius. But his other factors or traits are too difficult to judge from a highlight video.

I completely agree. I posted the highlight bc I know the majority aren't going to watch long full game vids. but I agree completely with everything you said. im coach football for a living and study film way to much. I just know the majority is not gonna watch it. but again I agree 100%. I like dgb a lot more I just know there is no way we are gonna risk him. he is raw as hell but has a ton of potential

Picking Perriman at 14 would remind me of the year we picked Jackie Shipp, I think also at 14. I think it would be a major reach. It doesn't matter how fast the kid runs if he can't get open because of imprecise routs nor hold onto the ball because of questionable hands and/or lack of focus. If the Dolphins don't trade down, there'll be prospects who are just as good and better bets to make it than Perriman. I'd honestly rather draft the kid from Ohio State in the second round than take Perriman in the first.

Perriman will not pan out in the NFL, he is DHB 2.0. Speed, size, but no hands and horrible route runner. This kid is a project and anyone hoping we take him at 14, will be calling for Hickey or Tannebaums head in 2 years.

I watched Perriman a lot while he was at UCF I can tell you he is great at getting off the line and beating press coverage. I will agree he rounds off his routs and isn't as crisp out of his breaks but that can be coached. On the issue of his drops as I said in another post I believe it's more about the new QB Holeman and his ball placement. If you watch Perriman he uses his physicality to run after the catch and for a receiver like that ball placement is key. One thing I'm sure of with him is he is very coachable I'm not sure if that makes him the 14th pick but I don't think he will be a bust.

I would take Sammie Coates over him, but still not at 14. Get best player available. He is nowhere near the 14th best player in this draft.
