Probably gonna get a lot of hate here, but whatever. I should get some non-troll cred, as I promised to stay out of the official game day thread as not to ruin the game for you, and I held my part.
First, this game went pretty much as I thought the game could go, almost. I think I predicted 35-17 in that prediction thread. I also said that if Dion Lewis plays, he could make the difference between a close game and a win going away. I was right on that. I was wrong on one point though, where I said that if Miami lost, they could still hold their heads up and take something out of this, as this is NE and they are playing in Foxboro.
That was wrong. I didn't expect Miami to play with almost no emotion, except a little defense in the first half, and that opening drive of the second half. Other than that, it was total domination, and frankly, the Dolphins are lucky to come out with any points and the Patriots should be kicking themselves because they easily put up a 40 burger, and possible 50 with some better play calling in the first half.
I was so surprised at this Patriots defense, which is getting better by the week. But posting in this forum for the short week, I honestly could not believe how high you were on this coach and this team, after beating the AFC South. And coming off of last week, where you were outscored 26-3 in the second half, and coming into THIS game, I just didn't see it.. on a short week, the Patriots at home.
Folks, no matter what you think about Brady and the Patriots, you must admit one thing if you are honest with yourselves. The Patriots are one hell of a team. I don't mention Brady much because he's just in a world of his own with his play. I mean they score 30 by default, and everything else is gravy. I predicted 35 because I give them 30 every game, and since this is a home game on a short week, I figured 5 points would be a start after that.
I don't see this Patriots team losing if that offense keeps this up. Folks, it may come on the Dolphins shoulders, meeting Patriots at 15-0, to keep them from going undefeated again. That would be one hell of a game in Miami.
The stuff I read about Tannehill, Campbell, the Dolphins defense, their run game, that PDV (or whatever his initials are) was going to kill us, etc. I thought I was in the Twilight Zone because looking at these two teams, any disinterested party could only assume the Patriots were going to win this game.
Too bad about Wake though. That hurts. I never like to see anyone go out for the season. That is going to hurt your defense going forward.
In closing, last night you saw a championship team. Any other team in the AFC was going to get beat last night too, so it's not just about you. The Patriots are doing something special, again, and the rest of the NFL is just going to have to wait in line until BB and Brady are done.
As high as you guys were on Miami for this game/season after the last two, that's how high I am now on 16-0. I see exactly 3 games that could derail this plan- Jets again, Denver (although I don't really believe that), and you guys last game of the season. No matter your record at that point, you'll be playing to be part of history, and I expect you guys to play your hearts out.
I will leave now until then, and maybe reply to some posts, but to all the guys here who were cool, good luck with the rest of the season. To all the guys who acted like jerks, you deserve what you got!
