Perspective On R.Bush First Game!

btw, ricky had injury probs until he came to miami.

If he is such a threat why did the Saints let him do? O wait, it is because they replaced him with Darren Sproles who had 254 total yards compared to Reggie Bush's 94 total yards.

So forget R Bush being better then both Ronnie and Ricky, he is having problems just matching D Sproles.

but we never had sproles, so why would we compare his productivity to sproles? Who replaced him in NO has absolutely ZERO effect on us. are we just grabbing at running backs around the league to compare him to?

IMO it seemed like the poster was comparing running backs to running backs, IE, R Bush he said was better then Ronnie or Ricky would be. I also personally think that the Saints got the better part of the bargain and I think R Bush should be compared to Sproles. If for no other reason, for us to see the best way to use a fast scatback since we have never had one and we seem to think he can play 75 downs a game.

The Saints drafted M Ingram and they ran him 19 times and Sproles only twice. Sproles was mostly used as a pass catching RB and he caught 7 passes for 75 yards. Most of his yards came from punt returns and kick offs. In non special team yardage, Sproles had 82 yards with 94 with Bush.

We were told that our plan for the future was to have R Bush in 70% of the time and our drafted player, RB D Thomas will be in 30% of the time. And we still have to find a short yard runner since we do not have one.

How stupid is our coaching staff for playing R Bush 75 of of 76 plays? And how poor is our front office that they did not make sure we had another running back.

Darren Sproles not only had a better YPCarry rushing average, but he had a better YPCatch in the passing game also. Sproles had 75 yards on 7 catches while Bush only had 56 yards on 9 catches.

bush had 94 yards, sproles had 80 on offense....

if you count return yards, KR have more yards than anybody...that comparison makes no sense..

reggie bush to miami dolphins instead of retaining ronnie brown and/or ricky williams - clear upgrade.
darren sproles to new orleans instead of retaining reggie bush - clear downgrade.
darren sproles signed by miami dolphins instead of trade for reggie bush - clear downgrade.
san diego chargers losing darren sproles in free agency - clear downgrade.

we win.

Sproles had almost all those yards on ST, and you are unfairly comparing them because Bush doesnt play ST. Just on offense, Bush had 94 total yards to Sproles 82 total yards. Bush had a TD, Sproles had a higher yards per catch. Pretty even on offense.

And just FYI, its pretty well known that the Saints had to cut Bush because of his inflated salary. And at the time they traded Bush to Miami, they didnt know they were getting Sproles.

Yards do matter. There is important yardage made on punt and kick off returns.

I'm not saying that Sproles is better then Bush is (although he does not have the injury history)

I'm saying he is being used better. If we had drafted another offensive lineman instead of D Thomas, kept Ronnie and Ricky and then signed either Bush or Sproles we would be better off.

R Bush dissappeared in the 2nd half of the game. He was overused.

he scored his TD in the 2nd half....look at the touches...he had 11 carries, I think 9 of them in the first half...he wasn't being targeted...I have no idea why, maybe he told Sparano he was tired...but it's hard to not disappear when they stop calling plays for you, plenty of times in the passing game in the 2nd half, Henne went elsewhere. I could see the point more if his 20 touches were split 10/10 and the production dropped off, but that's not really what happened.
