I haven't posted at all during the offseason. The transactions that the Dolphins have made, whether trades or signings, will be two-dimensional no matter what.

One side of the fan base sees the positive or negative from their perspective, and another side of the fanbase sees their perspective on what's positive and negative. There are legitimate points on both sides of the moves made.

I rewind my thinking back to when the Dolphins signed Ricky Williams. There were so many different opinions on that move, especially right after he signed. Then, at the end of his tenure as a Dolphin, those opinions changed and morphed to reflect so many new factors that can affect a fan's opinion. In the end, a fan's perspective is based on an "outside looking in" mentality.

From everything that I have read as a fan, from the multitude of South Florida media, to the faithful Finheaven members, I can say that it hasn't been easy to be a Dolphins fan. There are so many different poignant angles to what the team is or isn't doing well, that the core of our fanbase's love for this team can get rattled.

I understand that the majority of fans associate a winning team with how they feel about their team. How the Dolphins are doing compared to the Patriots, seemingly constant, is our litmus for "where we are at" as a team. This will always be. There was a point in time where other teams' fans were doing the same thing regarding the Dolphins. Whether in the '70s, '80s, or '90s, Miami was a template to mimic.....on mostly offense, anyway.

Ultimately, I think the upcoming season will be a true test of our individual love for this team. There are pieces to the puzzle that we have been without, it seemingly for years, that we have now that might actually be a crossroad to success.

As always, I will wear my gear on gameday. I will yell at the tv and root for my team.

The titanic question is, after all of the positive and negative perspectives that we endure as fans regarding our team.....

Will you join me on gameday and root for the Fins?

Sorry for the lengthy post...sometimes a thought deserves a thought.

0-16, 16-0 will not ever diminish my love for this franchise. I live and die with the Miami Dolphins, to my detriment some might say. But it is a CHOICE that I made as a young boy growing up in NY and my love has NEVER waivered. I surely don't expect that to change anytime soon.:)

I am in the same boat. Growing up in Northern California as a Dolphins fan, I can't tell you how hard it was to be at school after the Super Bowl vs the 49ers.

Once you pick a team to root for as a kid there's no turning back. People have asked me why I don't just switch teams and my response has always been the same......people that ask that question don't know what being a "fan" means. It means that's your team for good or bad and there's nothing you can do about it.

Personally the consistent under-performance and ineptitude from the top down has worn away a lot of my "interest" in the team.

Frankly, to be a "fan" of this team for the past 20 years has been more about a continuing dissatisfaction -- sort of like staying in a bad marriage

when you could just as easily leave. Unless some have "emotional issues" they deal with by being attached to a football team (or any other team)

being a fan has got to have some benefit! Some payoff! Bottom line -- what's in it for me to be devoted to the franchise Ross owns???

It's just a business. And not a very good one.

BNF.

Nowadays most sports fans just want to cheer when they think they will win & buy a super bowl winning t-shirt after the big game.

I ENJOY the whole process, watching rookie players develop and watching a team fight through a season and scratch and claw even when they have a losing record.

I HATE to see games where the Dolphins seem to have allowed a little good press to totally soften them up.

Gase seems to get a little too high after a win.

Shula, Parcells and Billichick usually found things to scream about and curse about even after a win.

When the fins BARELY win a game, Gase looks to be in cloud 9 & the players follow his lead.

I vividly remember being a little kid (I was born in 1981 and lived in SFLA most of my life) and being woken up by my parents yelling at the TV. I would wake up, run out to the family room to see what was going on and it would be the Dolphins game (probably MNF or SNF) and Marino slinging dimes all over the field...I had no chance and have been a HUGE Dolphins fan ever since.

I am a diehard Dolphins fan and will NEVER change. I have since moved to Maryland and work in Washington, DC. I do feel kind of a kindred spirit with Redskins fans, as they all too much understand mediocrity. I will follow the Redskins as well, but not nearly as closely as I do our beloved Dolphins.

A little OT, but you'll see why in a minute. Don't mean this the way it comes out, but there seem to be two types of fans. Type one seems incapable of understanding the concept of multiple causality, the other type DOES have that capability. Thus, to type one, everything has ONE cause - TBaum OR Gase OR Tannehill,, any ONE person, but it's outside their understanding to think the problem could be Tannehill, AND the OL, AND lack of a TE, AND . . .

Which gets me back on topic. Those who see multiple problems are more encouraged by what has transpired to date. Optimism is acceptable, if only cautious optimism. Not that there aren't still problems, and not that we agree with every move so far, but seeing upgrades and potential seems easier. All these people will join in for good times this fall. Those type ones who are POSITIVE (Gase is God's gift) will also be optimistic and join in. Those type ones who are negative? It will be a gray cloud off-season. Tannehill is STILL here. TBaum is STILL here. Landry is gone. Those one source problems will still exist and there's no hope of success. Miami will get 1-3 wins. No doubt. getting them to root for the Fins and admit the team's success with their ONE problem still around will be difficult.

Remember '16 pre-season? Miami can't even win games they're SUPPOSED to win. And AFTER the season and a playoff berth? Yeah, but they only beat losing teams. NO chance they can admit to progress.

Same reason people stuck with the Star Wars prequels...None.

Whether it's love or hate, the residue of NFL fandom damn near stains your soul.

I've been fortunate to have been a fan since 1970, so I've seen the glory days of Csonka, Warfield, Griese, Marino, Morris, etc... I'll always be a Dolphin fan, but it has been hard for quite a while. I'm a little pessimistic because of the lack of success, but always hopeful. None of us has any idea how the next season will play out, just opinions. There are some things we ALL have in common. We all want them to do well, we all feel great when they do win and look good, and we all HOPE they do well. Even some of the most pessimistic fans hope things go well. Being a little older, I try to enjoy the process of building a team and seeing how it plays out on the field and try to enjoy the good moments and forget the painful ones. It's what fans do.

Its like playing the stock market, you study the moves make your predictions, hang on for the ride and get back up and do it again. Why is the interesting part. Guess we all need a little action in our lives to keep things interesting.

Changing the team you support should carry the same punishment as treason. It's equally, if not more, unforgivable.

My expectations are usually realistic this time of year... until right about mid august where I become a full blown homer... But that stage doesnt usually last very long before the Fins bodyslam me right back to ****ing reality... Its like clockwork...
