Peter King: Marino talking to Dolphins about front office job

Not completely true...

http://mmqb.si.com/2014/06/03/dan-marino-lawsuit-concussion-nfl/

But Marino is talking to the Dolphins right now about joining the team’s front office in some capacity. Which somehow seems worse than suing the league while in a broadcasting NFL network studio. How welcoming now is owner Stephen Ross going to be with Marino now? Will he wonder if he wants to get in business with a man suing his parent company?

So it looks like the same info we had months ago....Marino wants to join...team hasn't made a formal offer...

I modified the title of this thread as it is not a done deal at this point. He has been talking to Ross for a few months now about joining the front office, not sure he is any closer today than before.

Better be careful, if there are any banana peels on the floor he might slip and sue the organization...

It seems like he has basically begged or been in the owners ear for months for a job. I love Marino but maybe Ross should just tell him no and move on.

Given all this, it was a curious time to "come out." Between the bastard resulting from his long-term affair cheating on a cancer-stricken wife, the imprudence of a bad investment and rumors of going ballistic on the CBS set (culminating in not being welcomed back?), his "Q-Score" must be at an all-time low. But then of course Bonds was hated everywhere but SF where he was revered, so who knows. It would take a lot of guts at this point for Ross to bring him in at a high level of compensation for anything other than a ceremonial type job considering the likely reaction of his fellow owners. I'd say if anything, Dan is now further away from an offer than 24 hours ago. I still would not be averse to it; after all he's the greatest Fin who ever lived and compared to some hall of famers in most sports, his misdeeds are small transgressions (let's see if Ray Lewis gets in the HOF).

I agree....he could be "shooting himself in the foot" as pointed out by King (and yourself) with this lawsuit. I'm still trying to grasp the motive behind it...surely he can't expect significant compensation (that happen due to the last one being a class action suit) and it doesn't seem like he trying to make a statement or make the game safer (again already accomplished). He's lost favor in the media, he's beginning to lose the chance at a position with the Dolphins...I just don't understand what he is trying to accomplish.

Aside from his so called transgressions, I just don't see him benefitting the Fins in any real capacity. Dan was a beast on the field but a mutt off of it. He has a history of poor decisions, not to the extent of murder, but certainly nothing there that makes me want to see him making important decisions on the team. It's sad really...

I think he Ned's some stability in his life, he's not aging gracefully and is on a streak he's not too familiar with...a streak of bad luck.

I'm not sure what he'd do in a front office job that would benefit the team.... Therefore i say we should pass on hiring him. Now as for the lawsuit issue... i feel like the NFL was wrong in every aspect of the word in how they used to handle the medical conditions of past players and they should pay.

I would be shocked that Ross would hire him with him being the face of a lawsuit against the league. Of course, I guess with all the other stuff that has happened to the organization, that this would actually shock me. I just can't see an owner hiring someone who is suing the league.

Love him as a Fin but he was awful on CBS, showed no personality at all. Hope that was it but I'm curious as well if there was other underlying reasons.

Maybe Dan needs the Dolphins as much as I believe the Dolphins organization needs him. I am pushing 50 this year, and as most I can not throw stones at some of Dan's post retirement actions. But I do know this franchise could use some of Dan's Fire, Competitiveness, and just his Winning Presence.

I am all in for Dan the Man. Got your back Dan Marino

Apart from to call people to buy season tickets I see no clear need for dan marino within the team

On that note - I find it interesting that his talks are with the ceo... someone who has no say over football matters or the hireing and fireing of football staff
