Chad Johnson gets arrested and released in a 24-hour span. He and his new wife, police say, were arguing over a receipt for a box of condoms, and Johnson allegedly head-butted his wife. He was arrested for the domestic dispute and spent the night in Broward County (Fla.) Jail. Shortly after getting released from jail, he got released from the Dolphins -- which well could have happened later in the preseason because he wasn't off to a hot start anyway.

I can tell you this: When I was in Dolphins camp 12 days ago, it was the day Johnson did his irreverent press conference, saying he'd go into porn if he didn't make the Dolphins, that he was going to take his mates to a strip club on a day off, and other typical Chad malarkey. You know what's wrong with Johnson? He doesn't understand his environment. You think a straight-shooter like Joe Philbin's going to laugh at stuff like that? He's not -- and I can tell you, he didn't. Johnson had very little margin for error in Miami, and spending a night in jail over a domestic dispute erased the margin.

Miami: Could this be the worst receiving corps in the NFL? Could be, unless wing-and-a-prayer wideouts like Legedu Naanee and Roberto Wallace, at least one of them, come through.

I think receiver was going to be a top priority in next years draft anyway. Problems is I can see 4 other positions being a priority as well if guys don't start playing better.

Chad Johnson either knew what to expect from Philbin or he's as clueless as many thought he was.

Worst on the league? Why? Cause we don't have a big name guy I say let it play out.

I consider myself a pretty big Dolphins homer at times but even I can't argue with people saying that. They have a legit slot WR in Bess then out of the guys we currently have slated to start on the outside we have... Naanee who's career best is 44 catches for 467 yards, and 1 td, as a 4 year NFL player and... Roberto Wallace who's career best is 6 catches for 62 yards, and 0 td's as a 3 year NFL player.

What I don't get in a "rebuild" is that coaches jobs are still on the line even if the team isn't expected to win 10-12+ games. Why not do all you can to make the team better? If the Dolphins come out of the gate and average 10 pts a game after four weeks, can they possibly stand pat and not try to sign anyone that would improve the team?

This the same Peter King who told us David Garrard has looked better than Peyton Manning last week?

DID NOT READ!

Our starting receivers were a guy with 15 catches last year (Ochodipstick) and a perrenial backup receiver that was brought in for depth and special teams (Naanee). They walked into camp and there was nobody better to hold them off.

Bess is better than both of them.

Man, I must be a total homer because I just don't see the doomsday, apocalyptic disaster at wide receiver that everyone else wants to report. Bess is really good and Hartline when healthy is decent, too. Charles Clay is a beast and will be problematic for defenses and when you add in Reggie Bush and Lamar Miller catching passes out of the backfield, its already not sounding that terrible. Can Roberto Wallace and/or Julius Pruitt show up this year? Man, it didn't look half bad the other night. Both those guys stood out, albeit not against starters. We have some growth potential here.

I thought it should've been a priority the second they traded Marshall. Say what you want, but the guy provided back to back 1000+ yard season, including 1200 yards last year DESPITE dropping the ball quite a bit. I haven't seen any legitimate moves to replace that type of production, now I know we had and still have a lot of holes to fill, but there were quality WRs available throughout the early rounds but Ireland chose to ignore the need.

The problem for Ireland was that there were so many needs. It's hard to argue with the early draft choices. Maybe a wide receiver in round 2, but Jonathan Martin seems like great value there and I think he'll be a really good right tackle. Not saying Miami doesn't need a standout wide receiver, but I think we'll see a lot of production from the tight ends and running backs this year. And maybe, just maybe one of the many young players will emerge. If Wallace puts it together to go along with Bess and Hartline that may be a decent start.
