From today's Peter King column:

3. I think a week from today, Drew Brees has a very good chance to be a Dolphin. It's a perfect fit, particularly if Nick Saban is sure Brees can throw the ball in training camp after having undergone surgery on his labrum. Remember, torn labrums are repaired all the time. The Dolphins will be doing handsprings if they're lucky enough to work out a deal for Brees.

4. I think I haven't changed my mind about the Chargers and Brees. Unless his arm is falling off and can't be surgically re-attached, you just don't let a top-tier quarterback go at age 27. We are watching insanity before our very eyes. Someone stop the Chargers before they go through with this. Please.

I really hope so!

Just saw that this was already posted in another thread. Oh well. At least this gives it a little more attention.

I second that whole-heartedly. Assuming he is medically cleared Brees is the BEST fit and the safer route. We ain't getting Young or Lienart and Croyle and Cutler IMHO are scary as %&*( and have potential busts written all over them. Get the best FA QB in here and that is Brees with Ramsey second in line.

lets just hope that they get the cba done so we can offer brees enough money...we need to get him in miami...then we can concentrate on fixing the secondary and the ol...

no don't stop them, they are giving us a QB, let them go ahead and do it

yes, that is great news. when i hear mort report it, then i'll know is some for real type thang.

I hate this....

Everyone is saying Brees will be the new Miami Dolphins QB in 2006. I can't remember a time when I heard this many people, so confident in a player signing somewhere. I can't find one expert opinion saying he'll be playing anywhere other than Miami, and that scares me....

I'm just shocked that there aren't a dozen teams out there waiting to make him an offer. I think the longer this CBA garbage drags on, the lower our chances of getting him signed become. More teams are positioning themselves with more cap space, and therefore will have more of an opportunity to spoil our chances once the start of FA begins....

If not Brees, we could still look towards Culpepper / Ramsey / or Collins. I still think Brees would be the perfect fit for us, and the direction our offense is heading.....UP!!!!!!

PHINZ RULE!!!

I don't know what that means, but King has plenty of credibility.

i totally agree that brees would be a better option than drafting a QB. QB is the riskiest position to draft, chock-full-o-busts. get brees through free agency and draft some more stable positions (OL, DB)
