Peter King: Wherever Manning goes, Wayne will follow

Does anyone really think Reggie Wayne, who is going to get his first major Free Agent deal, is going to tell teams who are willing to offer him big money...."sorry guys, thanks for the offer but Im going to hold out to see where Peyton Manning goes"...am i the only one who finds this ridiculous? Peter King is wrong on this one

It's just my personal opinion and I couldn't tell you what Wayne is thinking but, he isn't exactly young so I don't think he is going to get a huge contract like a younger player would. And he may know that. His line of thinking could be he just wants to go to a place that gives him the best chance at winning a Super Bowl. If that is the case then he may follow Manning. Again, pure speculation on my part (and King for that matter).

Agreed with the age thing he is 33. Its all speculation and dont get me wrong, I would love to have him down here at the right price. I just think with the lack of free-agent recievers who aren't getting tagged he would be in line for a larger than normal contract for a man his age. Plus I have a bias against Peter King, so I will tend to disagree with him about most topics. :)

I would tend to agree with you as I think Wayne still has enough left in the tank to warrant a good contract offer. Then again, there are some players out there who are more interested in winning and being successful than squeezing the most out of the market, and it's possible Wayne is one of those guys.

He may be on the downside of his career, but he...even at 33...is a hell of a lot better than what we've lined up opposite Marshall for the last few years. No disrespect to Hartline, but he's not a Reggie Wayne who can still probably put up a 1000 yard season.

I agree. There are WAY too many FA wide receivers hitting the market this year for Wayne to demand too much. The question about his ability to put up stats is a joke. The guy had a great year and had a boner throwing the ball to him.
2010 1355 yards 12.2 avg 6 TDs
2011 960 12.8 avg 4 TDs

He will still be a 1000 yard threat for a couple years plus his experience with Manning will be priceless to make a quicker transition.
