Peyton Manning on Tua Tagovailoa

Nice breakdown of Tua against the Giants looking at it from a QB's perspective. You'll learn a lot about Tua from this. Things you don't see that makes plays work.

Peyton, i think, would be a great QB coach or coordinator.. probably makes too much doing commercials and announcing to want the headache of coaching but you never know

What I love about the video is it shows some of the things Tua does that leads to wins. The accuracy and the way he moves defenders with his eyes is huge. Those things are so much more important than arm strength. But arm strength is easy to see while the stuff that Peyton is breaking down takes a much higher football IQ than most fans and media members have. I haven't looked at that arm strength thread b/c I imagine it's just a bunch of ignorant statements from people who don't understand football very well.

I also liked how he showed so many plays with Tua getting through multiple reads. That should be required viewing for anybody who claims Tua only takes his first read.

He also did a breakdown of Mac Jones recently I believe.

I haven't looked at it yet, I don't know what he said, but remember to keep your opinion consistent.

If you believe Manning talking up Tua means a lot, you can't say it means nothing for Mac on the flip side.

Maybe he trashed Mac though, I really don't know.

Something I've thought about and that this video highlights in a way is that Tua is learning and progressing in a VERY tough situation (crappy O-line). Everything he does has to be done quicker because he doesn't have protection a lot of the time. Or he has to roll out in order buy more time.

It's a little like being forged by the fire. It's just going to make him much better. And when he finally does get a decent O-line, he'll have all of those weapons in his arsenal that he was forced learn. He'll have lightning-quick reading abilities and release times. He'll have fast footwork and roll-out abilities he probably never would have developed. With better protection, the game will seem almost easy.

I know the O-line has improved lately, but it would still be nice to see Tua behind a legitimately top-class line.

I like how Peyton breaks down plays from the QB perspective. After watching this I decided that no one knows anything about how many reads a QB makes, doesn’t make etc cause I thought Tua could only read his primary receiver?????

Nice find OP!

Very nice. Peyton's knowledge is obviously amazing. Love how Tua uses his eyes. That is a tremendous breakdown of the importance of that skill.

Getting to a fourth read not only shows how quickly Tua processes, but the improvement of the offensive line IMO.

Sounds logical. However, on the other hand, with Tua playing behind a line that got him injured and puts him under constant pressure, is Tua actually checking his reads or is he in self-preservation mode and scanning for approaching defenders? I wouldn't be surprised if it's a little of both!
