Peyton Manning's bonus triggers rest of Manning's contract

If the Colts decide to pay QB Peyton Manning his $28 million roster bonus by Thursday, it would trigger the final four years of a five-year, $90 million contract. That includes a base salary in 2012 of $7.4 million.

If the Colts decide to not pay QB Peyton Manning his $28 million roster bonus, which is due Thursday afternoon, and Manning doesn't agree to an incentive-laden restructured contract, he becomes an unrestricted free agent. He missed the 2011 season after undergoing four medical procedures on his neck over the last 19 months.

I also think he'll restructure and stay. I think we go with Flynn.

i think he restructures & stays.

The problem with that theory is the Colts are probably going to draft Andrew Luck and I can't see him sitting behind Manning for two or three years. Luck is too talented to not start from the get go. I can't see him and Manning co-existing on the same team. And for anybody that says that Rodgers sat behind Favre for a few years, that was a totally different situation. Rodgers wasn't drafted #1 overall. He was drafted in the 20's and wasn't a sure thing coming out of college like Luck is projected to be.

No matter how it turns out, there will be unhappy people.

I just don't understand how people can be unhappy with getting Peyton Manning!! ABSURD!! RIDICULOUS!! CRAZY!! Makes no sense to me.

No way he'll restructure. He'll get cut, still get a nice check from the colts this year, and another team will pay him as well.

My gut tells me he restructures and stays. Too much has been going our way lately, hate to be negative but I guess I've been conditioned over the years for Findisappointment. Kinda use to it.

The media's doing a pretty good job convincing me he's coming to Miami. If he does I hope Tannehill is soon to follow. If Peyton doesn't come I'm good with Flynn.
