PFF- Dolphins Depth Chart Update

While we don’t believe Greg Jennings to be anything more than average, something his 0.0 grade in 2014 sums up perfectly, the Dolphins definitely are in a stronger position at wide receiver than they were at this time a year ago. They’ve replaced Mike Wallace with a better deep threat in Kenny Stills, who arrives from New Orleans having lead the league with a Catch Rate of 64.3 on passes travelling 20 or more yards through the air. That leaves Jarvis Landry in the slot, where he looked to be developing into a very good player as a rookie last year.

Interesting to see that they believe Stills to be an upgrade over Wallace as a deep threat because of his pass catching ability over Wallace's speed.

Hopefully there is a shift towards more blue pigment across the o-line changes as they get into the season......

They sure don't like the two CB's we signed in free agency this year. That won't matter if Taylor is the goods and finally healthy and Grimes holds up though.

I dunno if this is based of PFF grades or not, but Shelby as a Below Average player seems a bit unfair. He's been exactly what you hope for in a second team defensive end.

Is that your opinion that Stills is a better deep threat than Wallace??? Yes, he is younger and cheaper but to say that he is a better deep threat than Wallace is an utterly exaggeration. I wish Wallace had Drew Brees throwing him some deep balls to make a fair assessment

This is what I posted. Maybe you did not read the entire post. :)

You don't really expect a repeat of that 64.3 this year do you? If so I got some ocean front property for sale in Tenn. Drew Brees won't be the one chunking the rock to him this year. I love Ryan as much as anyone but his one weakness is getting deep balls on target. I'd be happy with 45.0 or even 40.

His statement is based on PFF rankings, Stills rated out better than Wallace in terms of balls caught over 20 yards last year so you can say 1) Stills in an upgrade over Wallace or 2) Bress is better at long ball accuracy than Tannehill.

Also there were a lot of balls thrown deep that I thought should have been caught, yeah Rayn doesn't have the accuracy of Bress or Brady but he wasn't getting much help either.

If Parker is as good as we all think he's going to be, Stills doesn't have to be better than Wallace. Just provide us with a consistent deep threat, catch the ball like he does, and avoid the WR Divian Flu. I'll be happy with 3/4 of Wallace's statistical productivity out of Stills, if Parker ends up as our number one.

I saw Sam Madison, who knows a bit on playing CB, on Finsiders last week. He has worked with Taylor the last 2 years in and out of camp. He said that Taylor is ready physically and mentally to become a good NFL CB, and that while he still has to prove it on the field, the only thing which can hold him back is injury.

Comments at safety were that Jones is the nail and hammer to make plays but, Delmas makes the secondary click by having players in the right position and "talking it up." He is a very valuable part of this team but again, must stay healthy.

They also showed some highlights of Taylor. Did not realize that he made some very physical tackles.

Is Brice McCain really that bad of a slot corner? I know he's a liability on the boundary, but I thought he was ok covering the slot.

What I believe is that Stills and hopefully Parker will give us much better production than Wallace on deep throws. I'm not giving RT a pass on bad throws but, did see Wallace out of position and not catching some throws I thought he should have been able to make.

Wallace had a good year but, with RT, the deep passes just did not work. We should see better this year.

Help ya fellas out...

James at Right Tackle is NOT below average.

I think by their pure numbers he ranked below average at right tackle, but you have to research that.

They probably are basing that on how they evaluated him at both LT and RT. I doubt they a grading any finer than "tackle" as a position. But maybe I'm wrong.
