PFF: Evaluating which teams are the best set up for 2023 season

We've talked a lot about the salary cap, but there always seems to be ways around it.

Not saying Miami will be going after big time free agents, but the window is still open a little bit. I don't buy the panic.

Now, when Tua's contract comes up that's a different story.

The issue is that the team doesn't appear to be near to complete but the capability to make significant free agents signings or the realistic chance of getting difference makers in the draft is pretty low. We threw a lot into a season where we drastically improved our roster and capability and yet ended up with the same record as the year before. Doesn't inspire a ton of confidence.

I think this year showed that Miami has a lack of depth. But when the front line players were healthy the Dolphins were competing.

Obviously, Grier and company are going to have to continue to find players. But the nucleus is there. Tua, Waddle, Hill, Armstead, Hunt and the center Williams on offense.

Wilkins Seiler, Phillips, Chubb, Holland on defense.

Still work to do

I don't think that's accurate. Kyle Crabbs of Locked-on put us at 55 mil or so with some pretty basic moves involving cuts and restructures.

He says from -7 million to 72 million with all the moves he mentions.

1. Extend Christian Wilkins goes from 10 million cap to about 5 million by extending and making contract structured to be cheaper up front. Savings 5 million total -2 million

2.Restructuring Hill knocking cap from 31 to 20 million, restructuring Chubb from 22 to 7.5 million. Saves 25.5 million. 23.5 million under cap.

3 Cut players. Jason Sanders - saves 1.5 million, smythe- saves 3.5 million, Keon Crossen 3 million, cethan Carter saves 2 million
Saves 8.5 (not including Sanders as I’m not sure he gets cut now we’ll see vs buffalo.) 32 million under

4. Trade Cedrick Wilson pretty much give him away for a 7th essentially another team takes on his contract saves 6 million. 38 million under cap. Trade Ogbah saves 15 million same concept although not sure anyone wants Ogbah. Would be 52 million under.

5.Post 6/1 cuts of Baker and Byron Jones, Jones is a given not sure about baker. Saves I believe around 20 million potentially 72 million.

Obviously not all with happen but some possibilities don’t think anything is too crazy

We have a nucleus but we did under Philbin too. You have to be really really good to overcome bad GameDay coaching over the course of a full season.

You left out TE, but yeah, that’s the list and it’s probably CB x 2. One UFA and likely that second rounder.

Right. McDaniel needs to improve. Hopefully, we'll see that.

Need to go after another OT and a good LB at least. CB is a big time need as Jones is going to be gone. He's lost his teammates with his bullshit. Also need a solid backup. Teddy ain't the answer and Skylar is meh.
