They compared QB's 2013 performance to their current cap hit, and what they belivie he should have been worth on the cap.

Tannehill was the #2 undervalued QB after Wilson. His cap hit was $2.9M, and they saw his performance last year worth a $15.5M.

I see where Jason, owner of Over The Cap, has joined PFF as their salary cap analyst. Good deal for both.

2. Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins

Tannehill is another quarterback from the 2012 draft class and after a decent rookie year he showed signs of improvement his second season. The biggest difference for Tannehill from Year 1 to Year 2 was his bad games as a sophomore weren’t as bad as his bad games the year before. While he hasn’t worked his way up into the elite tier of quarterbacks yet, he is trending in that direction and will one day receive his payday.

2013 Cap Hit: $2.9m
2013 Jahnke Value Model: $15.3m
Value Differential: +$12.4m

yeah the cap hit for the value he presents is flat stealing...he'll get his franchise level money extension within the next 2 years...

minimum $70 million

I don't know about all that

If he continues to improve next year, and I don't see any reason why he wouldn't, then he would certainly be a Top-15 QB in the NFL. You get your payday because the Dolphins will not let him hit the FA market.

RT's rookie deal runs through 2015, with Miami having an option to extend a year at the average cost of the top ten QB's. If he progresses as we both anticipate, the team has this off season and the next to add some star power through the draft to replace big contracts of guys like Wallace, a Grimes?, etc. to comfortably absorb his potential franchise deal.

wait and see...

5/$70 sounds fairly standard for a mid-tier NFL QB.

Without taking in guaranteed money, that would be a fair contract.

No, THIS would be baiting:

Romo and Stafford are not top QBs, Ryan hasn't performed but I think he'll get there. if you want a Romo/Stafford type good luck. you may win fantasy championships but you'll never get close to a real one.

Like Ricky Bobby said, if you are not first, your last.

So by your logic, any non-winning super bowl QB should not be paid?

the only guys that get that kind of money though are the ones their teams believe in them as the long term option...tannehill will be that at minimum...i just used that number to reflect what not even top 5 money guys get...you can lead a horse to water but...well you know the rest

Sort of like all those big plays Peyton made in the Super Bowl.

Peyton got exposed during the Super Bowl...I don't think he has the arm to go deep any more...stop those crossing routes and dare him to go deep on you.
Brady MUCH better than Peyton....I can't wait till Brady retires.
I think Rodgers is the best in the business right now.

Tannehill will get a 10-15 million per year contract in 2 years at the very least.
