Adam Gase was a hot commodity this offseason, with interviews planned for most teams in the NFL with a head-coaching vacancy. He opted to join the Miami Dolphins, however, and while his motivations for doing so are known only to him, it’s fair to assume that the team having a settled quarterback situation played a part. Here’s why Gase and QB Ryan Tannehill appear to be a perfect match:
Tannehill has lots of ability: This season was a rough one for Tannehill, as he ranked just 24[SUP]th[/SUP] in the NFL in PFF’s passing grades – a huge drop-off from his previous performances. He put together an excellent season in 2013, finishing as our fifth-ranked QB. He ranked in the top 10 of our grades in 2014, as well, a sign that this past season may have been more of an aberration than an indication that he isn’t capable of high-level play. And there is reason to believe that Gase could be the perfect coach to get the best out of him.
Gase’s track record with QBs is excellent: It’s hard to quantify just how much of Peyton Manning’s success in Denver had to do with Gase, as Manning’s Hall of Fame resume existed well before the two worked together, but Manning certainly speaks highly of his former coach. And John Fox clearly acknowledges Gase’s ability, taking him to Chicago with him to lead the Bears’ offense under Jay Cutler.
Cutler was coming off a dreadful season in 2014 during which he ranked as our 35[SUP]th[/SUP] overall QB. Gase certainly seemed to have a positive impact, as Cutler ended the year as our 17[SUP]th[/SUP] overall QB. There are a number of similarities between the offense Gase ran in Chicago and some elements of Tannehill’s offense under offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. Both have a preference for the no-huddle and use the read-option in the run game to hold the backside defender. Gase is likely to keep those features, suggesting an overhaul isn’t required in Miami.

Sounds like Gase will be a very good offensive coordinator. It's the head coach part that worries me a bit.

Yea doesn't mean anything. Gotta get results from 53 men not just 1. Time will tell.

no huddle under lazor

when?

Exactly , it was SUPPOSED to be that way , never was .

And many of us noticed , Tannehill usually looked good in the 2 minute drill . Our offense would get into a better grove for sure when we didn't huddle . Yet , we never did it . Another of the many issues we've had

no huddle under lazor

when?

Lazor, Lazor told more stories and lies then successful plays he called...

I still remember people wanting to elevate him to head coach because of his press conferences...

I remember some saying he was going to be a star in this league and we need to capitalize on him now before he gets pulled away from us for a head coaching job.

Think the author meant Lazor ran the no huddle plays (e.g. quick wr bubble screens) without actually running the no huddle formation.

there aren't "no huddle plays" but i get what you're saying, we ran a tricky, space driven, misdirection offense with a lot of stuff behind the LOS....aka an offense that should be ran with tempo/no huddle because it's not hard to call some consecutive plays to get the defense but alas....we actually had a slow tempo running that offense...really not surprising that didn't work out.

From Mike Sando of ESPN Insider
Giants No. 1 in ranking of head-coaching openings
2. Miami Dolphins

I went into this thinking the Eagles would be second, but people within the league convinced me the Dolphins were a better choice.

Adam Gase's hiring, well-received among the people I polled, might have affected their outlook. Gase previously connected with Peyton Manning and Jay Cutler when both had hit career low points. Manning was coming off neck surgery, his future in doubt. Cutler had achieved pariah status in Chicago. Both quarterbacks bounced back. The Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill could be next.

Ryan Tannehill took a step back in 2015, but he's still a talent worth developing, and he'll have Adam Gase trying to do just that.

"The Dolphins are positioned to jump out," one exec said. "The roster is better than people think, with some good young receivers. If the head coach can connect with the quarterback and get stuff going, they have a chance. Ryan Tannehill is a young guy ready to be a good quarterback."

There are questions about ownership and the front office, but that's true in most places.

Tannehill's fault according to Philbin.

Forcing a player to do something they struggle accomplishing. Good coach! All Gase has to do to blow away any coach from the last 10 years is adjust the system to the strengths of his players.

Same story resold every year...

The team is better than it proves...
There's more talent than some think...
Ryan is going to be a very good NFL QB...
We have an owner that gives us everything...
We're 1 or 2 plays away from being a playoff team...
We just need more consistency...
We need to play for 4 quarters...
We're better than we play...

IMO its all BS until this team proves it on the field next season.
Until then, its just propaganda.
