PFF's Dolphins Depth Chart

Still, if he's just average against the run with 11 sacks, regardless of how he got them, doesn't put him in just the average category. Average sack totals have got to hover around 3-6 maybe? I mean hell he was tied for 7th in the entire NFL last year for sacks.

Look at the top 20 4-3 DE's. Tied at 19 to 23 had 7, tied at #18, 2 at 8, and the next 7 had 9. Add in the QB hits, which matter. OV had just 5, which was #36, and Wake had 20 on over 200 fewer snaps. Add that to the run, and overall you come up with around average.

OV has to take another step, which I believe he will but, fighting off Jordan is gonna be tuff.

PFF is infallible....I don't care what you see on film...if PFF says it is so...then it is

I appreciate the statistical evidence to back up your assertions. you've swayed me a degree, but he's still a step above average to me.

What do "you" see when he plays....how does he come up short in the run game...where is his weakness?

I don't recall much on the run, other than opening day being disappointed in him missing tackles he made the year before. On his pass rush, I saw him losing individual battles on a regular basis. I recall Wake flushing out the QB to him for sacks at least twice, and pressure from Starks/Odrick on another two ( I think), along with 1 or two when the QB held the ball too long.

I posted these thing during the season but, can't be sure as to the accuracy now.

What did you see?

It's boarderline, and OV also did well when he dropped back in coverage.

The ratings are less important to me because I already have a feel for how most of these guys play. I am pleased to see the OL projecting just how I thought it would at draft time. And, I still have my fingers crossed that Smith is improving his pass pro.

Sent from my phone, so please forgive any typos.

I don't have the same feel just yet, as I have not seen Dallas or Turner, don't know how much Brenner has improved, and Shelly is Benton's project.

The only grade I have an issue with was for Fields who should, at the worst, be "High Quality Starter".

Agree, he had a couple of not up to par games after being almost perfect the year before but, have to put a lot of that on our special team's sucking last year in blocking and tackling after being so good for a few years. I think Thigpen had the same problem on returns. No way he had the same opening as 2012.
