I know that they don't get that much respect around here.........but for entertainment value, they are right up there for me. They are the 2nd page I go to every morning right after here.

Anyway, as many of you probably know, they have been doing their pre-season rankings over the last month, from the bottom (the Bills  ) up.

They are now up to number 12.......which are the playoff teams, top 6 from each conference, and have yet to touch on the Phins. Meaning that they see us as playoff material. Although I'll be the first to acknowledge that power rankings don't mean a thing, it's still nice to see.

Here is the list so far. They just posted #12 to the rumor mill, which is the Chargers - so we are no lower than #11 :woot:.

They finally got something right, but seriously I dont see how anyone could not consider us a playoff team on paper being thats all anyone has to go by for the moment.

These aren't -- we repeat, aren't -- projections regarding who will make the playoffs or win the Super Bowl. Instead, this list is our opinion as to where each franchise stands relative to the 31 others at this point in the year.

.

and here's another quote from when they did the #13 Cowboys:

Of course, before we start plowing through the playoff-level teams, there's one small matter to deal with. The last team that, per our list, is on the wrong side looking in (for now) on the postseason tournament.

They clearly acknowledge that the top-12 teams on their list are who they see as the playoff caliber teams.

I never presented this as a PREDICTION that we would make the playoffs, but that they see us, right now, as playoff material.

I noticed that this morning dude. Tat is also one of the first pages I look at this mroning and for the most part I respect alot of what is reported on that page.

Again, Florio is like an ambulance-chasing lawyer...he has a tendency to throw things out there just to get a rise. His rumor mill is ok and he's getting better at substantiating (sp) his facts, but he still likes to put his own spin on stories instead of just reporting the facts...

He's got us in the top 11, but why is it that nearly everyone else in the media, for example has Dallas as not only p/o material, but SB bound and he doesn't ?? I don't really care either way, but he's not always very consistent in what he's reporting...

Dallas is far from a consensus.....many like Washington better in their own division. These things are all opinion, and I see enough questions with a team like Dallas, to not question him too much if he sees them as only the 13th best team in the league. I actually see that pick as pretty consistent, as he has gone on record that he thinks that T.O. will have a blowup sooner rather than later.

He did also pick the Raiders for their division and beyond last season so i wouldn't put much stock into it, i always enjoy my daily visit there though

What he means when he says that this is not a projection of playoffs or super bowls is that he is not really evaluating the schedules as he does this. The Chargers might have been #12 last year too, were he to have made a power rankings, but they didn't make the playoffs.

Similarly, I'd have definitely ranked the Fins in the top 10 in 2002, even though we barely missed the playoffs. That year we were robbed by Ray Lucas' complete and utter ineptitude when he came in place of Fiedler. No doubt we lost two key games at the end of the season even after Jay came back, but one of those was in ridiculous conditions and the other one was against Belichick's Patriots. Had we won just one more of those Ray Lucas games, we'd have been division champs, gotten a home playoff game...and I really thought with Ricky running wild like he was we could have gone to the divisional round...maybe even the conference championship. I mean heck, the Steelers went from #6 seed to SB champ. We had a heck of a D. We had an unbelievable ground game.

i'm not sure if i even want to make any predictions, i just want to hope for the best and hopefully get to watch some good dolphins football this year

Not everyone thinks that highly of Dallas. I was listening to NFL (sirius) and on one of the talk shows some of the hosts predicted Dallas would finish last in the NFC East (and yes one of them was Randy Cross, but there were others too).

Bill Belichick's Patriots were not a playoff team that year, and in fact had a losing record when we went up there to close out the season. If I recall there was a 13 point lead with less than 5 minutes in the game and both our offense and defense played not to lose (and that is exactly what happened).
The week earlier we played the Vikings (in a dome) also with a losing record and we choked that one away too.

Based on our off-season and the coaching staff additions, I bet they rank us in the top 5. I believe they even predicted us and Washington in the Bowl at one point.

That said, I still take everything from there with a grain of salt.....

I give them props for putting the dolphins in the top 10, but I think the Bengals and Ravens will be looking alot better then where they placed them.
