PFT Draft Needs...and a little thought!

I wouldn't mind Jake, but I don't see Henne as better than Beck, so that pick really doesn't make sense IMO. Only QB's worth taking the first day would be Ryan or maybe Brohm IMO. Flacco is a big wild card. Otherwise way until the 2nd day where it makes more sense to take a project OB (ie Johnson, Booty or Ainge) and build up the OL or other big needs in round 2.

I agree but heres what was posted in another thread about Henne:

What did speak volumes was a local radio interview this week by Michigan quarterback Chad Henne.

Henne told ESPN-760 that the Dolphins sent national scout Ron Labadie and quarterbacks coach David Lee to Ann Arbor last week for his Pro Day and have another dinner meeting and possible private workout scheduled with him Tuesday and Wednesday.

“They wanted to know my character, what I am as a person as a player,†Henne said. “(We went) through what I know, how I go about myself during the game and off the field. So I’ve had good contact with them.â€

Surprisingly, the Dolphins, who were originally thought to be high on Delaware quarterback Joe Flacco, have not made any effort to contact him or his agent, Joe Linta.

So this tells me that Henne is getting alot of quiet Attention by the Miami Brass.

While I'd be very satisfied with drafting OT J. Long at #1 overall, can someone out there please sell me on QB C. Henne at #32?? I'm having serious difficulty with that selection. Thanks....

When someone says that Tuna is intersted on Henne and that we haven't talked to Flacco lately.....it means smoke screen....we must want Flacco and not Henne...Tuna's not gonna tip his hand

Ozzy rules!!

Well here's how I see it:

Matt Ryan IMO will fall to 8 or 14. The next QB after that may be taken late in the first or fall to the 2nd (which will probably be Brohm).

I think all this Henne or Flacco talk is only realistic if one falls till pick #64 (3rd round), which I'm pretty confident that one of them will.

Bro I've heard people say that this is a smoke screen and that is a smoke screen I'm kinda getting a headache from all these smoke screens. I'm about to die from smoke intoxication. I think he's got everyone confused. Which is a good thing.

i can confirm that parcells is high on chad henne. at least that was the impression that he gave jim mandich prior to the bengals game. mandich said on his radio show that after talking to parcells about henne it was clear that henne was a lock to come to the dolphins.

As an Ohio State fan it's hard to sell Henne at 32...but he does have the arm to make every NFL throw. The way I look at it with the 32nd pick, regardless if it's Henne or Flacco, if one of the two is there, I wouldn't be against it.

My thought process on this is that John Beck will be 27 at the start of the season, and while we're all rooting for him, myself included, you have to allow for the possibility that he's just not a starting NFL caliber QB - best case scenario, he's an upgrade over a Sage Rosenfels as a #2. Josh McCown is 29, and signed a short-term deal - clearly not a long-term solution at QB.

So, say we draft Henne at 32, or even better, at 57 - my thinking is that if Beck doesn't cut it, he's also older than your average 2nd year QB as it is, and McCown is a wild gunslinger with a two-year deal so he's out of the picture in two seasons most likely. Parcells and Co. have already stated that 2010 is their target year to make a run - Henne or Flacco can actually sit on the bench the whole year this year, and if Beck and McCown aren't up to snuff you have a young 24 yr. old QB with arguably a better arm than both Beck and McCown waiting in the wings, in essence, simply covering all the bases if Beck fails as a starter this year.

Or it is one elaborate ploy to try and get someone to trade into the 32nd spot so we can get more draft picks.

Henne will be great here

Holding onto the ball for 5 seconds like he did too much at UM as the defense explodes through our offensive line and kills him.
