Dolphins G.M. Jeff Ireland wasn’t a particularly popular figure in Miami heading into this offseason. The events of the last few weeks won’t change things.
The Dolphins went hard after Jeff Fisher, but they ultimately couldn’t close the deal because of Ireland’s presence.
Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports writes that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross wouldn’t budge on Ireland’s control over the 53-man roster.
“This was Miami’s game to lose, and Ross decided he wanted his current G.M. to retain his current level of power. So the Rams got their man,” Silver said. “Fisher was willing to meet halfway on personnel control, but Ross wouldn’t budge. He’s an Ireland man.”

I think Fisher really wanted to come here, it's amazing to me that Ireland and Ross were not willing to meet fisher half way and create an owner-gm-coach partnership!!!

Who needs a coach...we have Ireland...isn't that what counts? I mean really, there are pages and pages of folks just praising Ross for this...get ready for another three years of bad drafts...

Or get rid of Ireland all together. He might be ok at best, but he is not a the type of GM I would miss.

I don't care much for Ireland but I'm still glad Fisher went to the rams

Ozzy rules!!

Thank god for Ireland now we dont have to overpay for Fisher and can get someone younger and hungry. Fisher wanted to come here for the money plain and simple. He wanted to be in st louis all along and thats his "reason" why he went to st louis when everyone said he was going there all along. Fisher won 3 division titles in 17 years not missing out on anything special. Better than what we had in Sparano is all

And those grapes are sour I'm sure anyway.............

GM's are a dime a dozen. There are many guys that frequent this site that could do a better job than Ireland.
Head coaches that succeed are a rare commodity.
We don't know who our next coach will be, but we can be assured that we will be underwhelmed.

You really don't know much about football do you? GMs a dime a dozen. You're nuts. A good GM is worth his weight in gold.

And you consider Ireland to be good? Apart from Long (#1 pick - no brainer), list for me all of our future HOF'er and All pro selections that he has drafted...
