Scouting report from someone who watched every game he played in.
I’d rank him a 5 out of a scale of 10.
He’s OK. He will run with any WR, he will not get any interceptions as he never gets his head around. He won’t make too many mistakes. Players can get space on him. He’s a decent #3 cb. I sure as heck wouldn’t want him as a starter.

My bet is he goes to San Fran.

Don't we need a #3 CB also. We need depth. Even if we do sign him no one is saying that he will be the starter and from everything I hear about him it seems unlikely he will be anything more then a nickel CB.

He some more discussion form a Cardinals forum:
Seems many teams want Eric Green like I said before, He has starting experience and 4.3 speed. But i missed any information on the knee and leg injury's in the Mcfadden story on the Cards site.

(McFadden will compete with veteran Rod Hood for a starting job opposite second-year man Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The move bolsters the Cards’ secondary, after a 2008 season when soon-to-be-departing Eric Green fell out of favor and the nickel position was manned by veteran Ralph Brown.)

Why wasn't it covered more, explained by our team or the local media? It turned from a injury to an attitude problem and our starting CB slid to inactive without an in depth story or news coverage?

He probably refused to play hurt with His medical people saying He could get hurt worst. Last I heard he was still hampered by the injury. I don't know how the Cards make a SB run and their starting CB for 3 years gets benched and then Clancy gets fired and still no story, Did they black ball EG on the CARDS?

To his credit He never hurt the team with distraction on the playoff run. Sorry I remain a fan of MR Green and appreciate his effort, outperforming 1st rounder Rolle and others. He just doesn't play the ball He plays the receiver and HE SHOULD with his skills. Steve SMITH never caught a ball on him in 4 years that I seen as soon as they schemed away from Eric, Smith smoked the Cards.

In Whiz I trust but it is probably a play hurt or hit the road mentallity. Only thing I can figure cause I never seen the BAD attitude in public. But He did cut his hair this year and lost his Samson thing He had going on.

He was burned pretty frequently at the end of the '07 season and the beginning of the '08 season. Slightly worse than the bad stretch Hood was in heading into the playoffs this year. Whether it was injury problems or not, I don't know. In any event, he appeared to have regressed each year after his rookie season.

As far as Clancy goes, good riddance. With the exception of his first year in the desert, he was an awful coordinator. Just to remind you, this is the guy who came out against the Eagles on Thanksgiving with a soft zone D...against a team with a very mobile QB, a multi-tool halfback, and no impressive receivers.

I'm super happy with the McFadden signing. He will compete with Hood for his job and more then likely take it. Either way our Nickle spot will be upgraded big time.

I hope the best for Green but honestly can't understand your man crush on him or B.Johnson since both were guys that honestly showed no more then what we got out of them which was 3rd WR and 2nd/Nickle CB play. Green did at least show heart and if you look back at my history (until around the end of this season) I always rooted for him and wanted him to succeed.. Now that he's done here though I'm not upset to see him go. Shutting down Steve Smith was cool and I'll never forget that smackdown he laid on him right at the LOS.. but in the end I truly believe that McFadden is a big upgrade. We shall see.

4.3 speed. I think you're mistaking him for someone else.

He was a 4.52 combine guy who struggled with long speed for the duration of his pro career.

Midway in the season (approx) wasn't there a play where Eric quit pursuing the receiver (who scored)? Perhaps the lack of competitive fire illustrated by that play is the source of the "attitude" concerns. Eric was a hard-hitter and I'm thankful for his contributions, but he was a non-factor the last month of the season and during the playoffs.

The only thing that had 4.3 with Eric Green was his mouth after he got burned.

I liked Eric Green with the dreads, hard Hitting and all but his mental state just when south. He'd be in position and let a guy make the catch (see Rams game 1). He gave up on a few plays to. he just became a huge liability. He has the physical tools but mentally he just can't handle it. He reminds me of David Barrett we he was here. Alot of physical tools but just made too many costly mental mistakes.

But Barrett did go to another team and have some success. I hope Green can do the same.

It's very simple "The Smell"

Eric Green "fell out of favor" because he's a horrible football player and even worse CB.

Everyone can see it but you.

He's terrible.

You can say he's good 100000000 times but that doesn't make it so.

You say he shut down Steve Smith which is one of the funniest things I've ever heard. I was at every Cardinals Panthers game we've ever played. All I ever saw was Eric Green getting smoked or falling down and Steve Smith scoring.

ERIC GREEN SUCKS, and if he fell out of favor with coach Whiz for having attitude issues, why would you possibly want him on this team?

Good Riddance Eric (where'd he go?) Green

Hood, McFadden, DRC >>>>> Eric Green x1000.

Eric Green's bad attitude probably began when DRC was drafted in the 1st round by the AZ Cardinals.

If our Dline is putting that nazty pressure on the QB, Elmer Fudd could be at Corner and look like Prime Time. I believe our Dline and LB's will be super nazty this year.

exactly

our #2 will have to be drafted at this juncture, good thing we have 3 day 1 picks

i was thinking that this guy would be like a safety net for jason allen, a really old safety net that has holes in it and maybe a special teamer he said he doesnt make many mistakes so maybe the FO sees potential there
