Under the deal, as we've heard it, the Texans would send quarterback David Carr to Miami for running back Ricky Williams (a former Longhorn) and a third-round draft pick.

Williams is under contract through 2007. Carr is due to receive an $8 million option bonus in February, which would extend his contract through 2008.

Again, these are rumors only -- and we're not suggesting that this trade will go down. But if it should happen it clears the way for the Texans to select Young.

I know some people dislike PFT, but even they indicate that this is a rumor...

Regardless of the source, this might be the kind of trade I'm most comfortable with for Ricky -- one that helps deliver a solid QB candidate. Now, I don't know that Carr is the answer, but I'm confident that the front office won't do this if they don't think so.

What do you think? Is this hypothetical trade a good one? Could Carr get the job done in Miami?

Houston has said they are drafting Reggie Bush and are committing to David Carr as their QB. David Carr will be the QB of the texans next year.

It works for me, even though Id rather see that 3rd pick be a 4th

people should remember he plays for an expansion team with no O-line and one real recieving threat

I think he could get the job done here

im for it if houston would do it, but they won't

we need to keep ricky, I hate to see us lose our star players.

Wow! a thread about something from PFT without everyone bashing the source! Now, I've seen everything! Everyone usually bashes PFT because of the rumors.

I don't wanna trade Ricky but if is gonna get us a good young QB like Carr then I'd probably do it.Is not that I wanna get rid of Ricky but more like trying to get a good QB and then just going with Brown and maybe giving Harris a chance. Is great to have 2 top RB's but we're not going anywhere till we get a good QB.

Ozzy rules!!

Personally, I enjoy reading the PFT Rumor Mill on a daily basis.....

As for this rumor, I'm highly sceptical. All I keep hearin about Houston is that they're sticking with Carr, and drafting Bush. This rumor changes all that....

I don't buy it, and even if it's legit, we'd be getting screwed....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

When PFT reports something as a rumor, it says to me that it's actually a rumor they're making up as opposed to a rumor they heard from other sources (reported as fact).

Here is a rumor of my creation that makes a billion times more sense than this one does:

Aaron Rodgers for Ricky and a 4th

That would pave the way for the Packers to take Leinart or Young and would solve what is actually a problem at RB for them. This makes no sense for the Texans because they need OL help, not RB help.

ETA: While I'm coming up with hypothetical trades, let me throw out:

Vernon Carey for Chris Simms and a 3rd rounder

That makes a damned lot of sense if you ask me. I have a feeling Carey isn't ideal for Houck's system as either a LT or a RT, but he might work for Tampa. Miami drafts a true LT in the first, shifts McIntosh to RT, uses the 3rd for defense, and has its QB of the future.

I'm actually a big fan of David Carr and think he will develop into a great QB as soon as he has even a little protection. I believe he fits into our offensive scheme very well. I would bet he could come into Miami and have a career year his first year in a new offense. I'd trade Ricky and a 3rd rounder for him in a heartbeat.

I don't see it happening, They have said they are drafting Bush, and I think they are pretty happy with Dominic Davis. What the Texans need to focus on is getting a solid O-Line, not getting more running backs.

Carr better be the flippin' answer if we dump Ricky AND a 3rd rd pick!!!!!!

 Knowing full well that they had to deliberately click on "Rumor Mill" to get to the source.

Anything I read from the "Rumor Mill", I consider just that.

BTW, I'm for keeping RW.
