In a recent article PFW ranks the top 10 rookies, but our OL stalwart, Jake Long is not on that list. Given the way he played, that our OL members were playing together for the first time, and the injuries to Donald Thomas and Justin Smiley, that's outrageous, I think.

Even after making the playoffs, some media members don't give us a fair evaluation.

Who cares, hopefully Jake sees this and works even harder to show how little these clowns know about football.

Yea he goofed . . . no way u can rank Jake below Mayo, Carlson and Otah.

Anyways, he ranked Clady first . . . Over Ryan and Flacco . . . he doesn't know what he is talking about.

My list probably goes like this:

1. Matt Ryan
2. Joe Flacco
3. Jake Long (Best rookie for us)
4. Ryan Clady
5. Chris Johnson
6. Matt Forte
7. Eddie Royal
8. Steve Slaton
9. Jerod Mayo
10. Jeff Otah

I would imagine that writing an article ranking the top 10 rookies, which does not include the #1 overall pick, will draw more attention than an artice that does

Clady was good for the system that Denver runs, but I'm not sure that he was teh better OT of the two.

Why is Brett Favre a pro-bowler, why is Jason Peters a pro-bowler?? It isn't worth the time it takes to figure out the stupidness that goes into peoples opinions. We know Jake has earned his 1st round number one overall title, that's all that matters.

The pro bowl is a popularity contest...

I think that what the writer might be trying to do is list which rookies really exceeded expectations. I mean who would honestly say that John Carlson is a better or more valuable player than Jake Long. As the first pick in the draft the expectations for Long were obviously very high and I would say that he matched those expectations. If you look at the rest of his top rookies list most of those guys really exceeded what they're were expected to do. I don't really think it was meant to be a shot at Jake. By no means do I agree with his list, but I understand where he could be coming from.

This may be the greatest rookie class ever.

In all fairness I dont think Long was even close to being in the top 8 rookies this season. Id put him around 9-10.

Ryan, Mayo, Johnson, Slaton, Forte, Clady, Flacco, Royal all were better than Long.

Id put Long at 9 at best.

Still love the guy and think he was the best pick for the dolphins

I would have to disagree about Flacco. I think he's definately on his way, but I think Jake had a better season. Also LT other than QB is probably the toughest position to play in the NFL, it's why finding a starter that can dominate position for years is so hard to do. The reason I say Jake had the better season is because Joe threw as many INT's as TD's to me that's how you seperate QB's TD/INT.

RB is probably the easiest trasnistion position in the entire NFL. I think you can't just claim someone is better simply because they're more high profile. Jake didn't get the attention the RB's and QB's got because his position doesn't score TD's, but without him and his contribution, Chad doesn't make it through the season healthy. Chad doesn't make it through the season healthy we don't win 11 games and we don't make the playoffs. Also TS said Jake is without a doubt our best run blocker.

Its simple guys. Jake Long is OL. And OL is not sexy in the least. So its simple to not even look at them. For example, look at any top 10 in the league for all times. How many times do you see a nose tackle in the top 10? Because its not sexy. So these so called "journalists" ignore them.

You may be right on that one....

Ok now, that is just absurd.

I can see how Matt Ryan, Ryan Clady and possibly Jerrod Mayo/Chris Johnson/Steve Slaton were viewed as being equal to or greater than Jake Long, but the rest of that list, especially Joe Flacco is a stretch.

Jake Long was one of the top 5 tackles (top 10, at worst) in the NFL, Flacco wasn't close to being one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. Flacco was 22nd in the NFL in both DVOA and Passer Rating.

Matt Forte was 32nd in the NFL in YPC, 18th in touchdowns and 38th amon NFL running backs in DVOA. I like Forte and all, but he's garbage compared to Long.

Eddie Royal was excellent for a rookie WR, and I do think he's better than Flacco (Fantastic upside, with mediocre NFL production) and Forte, but he was still 23rd in receiving yards, tied for 29th in touchdowns, and 46th in DVOA.

IMO, Ryan Clady was the best rookie this year with Long fitting in somewhere in the top 6.
