We had Phil Simms on the DolphinsTalk.com Podcast to talk all things Miami Dolphins today. Some of the issues Phil talks about are....

-Landry and his contract situation
-Fins win over the Pats last Monday
-Why Miami shouldn't draft a QB this year
-Cutler/Tannehill and what Miami should do in 2018
-His thoughts on Adam Gase and the 2017 season
plus much more....

Thanks, Mike, very cool interview.

Glad you enjoyed it. Phil had a lot of good insight and thoughts on the Dolphins team today. Was a thrill to have him on our show.

Love the part about Ryan and the Pitt game and noticed that on Landry TD as well, wasnt sure he was going to be able to sneak in.

Although I agree with the premise of having a good backup can’t see Jay returning.

I don't agree that the Pittsburgh playoff game last year was "there for the taking." I think whatever would've happened differently for the Dolphins as a function of Tannehill's presence would've been effectively countered by Pittsburgh. Such were the dynamics of the game, with Pittsburgh's being at home in a first-round playoff game, and their having lost embarrassingly to the Dolphins earlier in the season.

Notice the Steelers completely squelched Ajayi in that game, whereas he ran all over them in the first one. What do you think accounted for that? Matt Moore? Was he alone the difference between 200+ rushing yards for Ajayi, and 33?

Tannehill may have played better than Moore, sure, but the Steelers weren't going to let themselves lose that game.

I think Simms is focusing too much on technical aspects of the game there, and not enough on emotion.

The plays were there to be made, I agree with Phil, remember the crucial mistakes made by the QB?

Phil says Ryan ‘easily’ makes those- not sure I go that far but we had a chance in that game with better QB play- it was there for the taking as he points out.

You of all people...

Execution on the field doesn't matter, boys. You heard it here, first.

If you miss a wide open receiver, it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is if you were fired up while doing it.

I'm embarrassed for you.

The plays may have been there, but to conclude that it meant the game was "there for the taking" is wrong in my opinion. That game wasn't going to be lost by the Steelers because of the emotional dynamics involved in my opinion. Any plays Ryan Tannehill would've made would've been countered by even better play by the Steelers.

Surely we can't say the Steelers would've played at exactly the same level, if a critical difference is made in the Dolphins' play. The Steelers could've very well played even harder, had the Dolphins been a more formidable opponent.

I do agree with him on the Pitt game last year. As bad as Miami played if Moore didn't turn it over a ton Miami would have been in it in the 4th quarter. Even after halftime Miami was right there but Moore kept turning it over
