I'm a fan of Phil Simms as a football analyst. He was dead on about Jay Fiedler being severely limited as a passer because of his wristy throwing motion, always floating the ball into safeties' waiting arms. Here's what he has to say about Cleo Lemon:

• CBS' Phil Simms said Tuesday that UM called about his quarterback son, Matt, ''but it was too late. Why didn't they call earlier?'' Matt orally committed to Louisville this week.
Simms, incidentally, thinks Lemon has potential to start in the NFL right now. ''He's always intrigued me,'' Simms said. ``He's a smooth athlete, a very [rhythmic] thrower, definitely has an NFL arm.''

He definitely has potential. If we are able to re-sign him, then he'll have every opportunity in the world to seize the starting spot from Culpepper. I think Harrington will be cut and we will draft a QB. If Culpepper can come close to regaining his form, then Lemon will be relegated to back up duty. If Culpepper continues to struggle, Lemon might be our guy (for next season at least).

I think Culpepper has this year to prove he can regain some of his form. I would be comfortable with Lemon as a #2 and drafting a rookie to learn for a couple years (I prefer Trent Edwards). I am a big fan of Lemon and was glad to see Cameron come in, because that means he'll probably get a fair chance to compete for the starting job. I never thought Saban gave him a fair chance.

I think that Lemon has to AT LEAST be given the backup job. I think he has shown he can be more than a third stringer.

Who was the one that said Harrington earned the right to start next year, right before he laid that goose egg? Was it Boomer or was it Steve Young? (I'm now thinking it was Young)

I like your mock, if Mozes is available that late what a bonus.

So the same guy who ripped Ronnie Brown, and people here called him an idiot, now says something good about Lemon, and now he's right.......

Phil Simms opinion about the RB position would not be respected as he never played that position. How would he know what a good RB is. Now as for his opinion on the QB position, that is something he is and also was very good at, that opinion will always be respected.

Steve Young said "joey has earned the right to start". After Joey's "good" game. Joey never had two consecutive good games so I don't know how he earned the job in Steve young's eyes.

I agree that Cleo has the potential to start in this league. I feel comfortable with him at the number two spot if Pep can't lock it down.

Simms said that Ronnie Brown is very good, not great. Big deal.
