Was it me or did anyone else hear him say RT should not have thrown the last pass because it would only add to his turnover ratio?

I think he said it'll add to the drama and he's probably right. When people use his TD to INT stats to prove he sucks nobody will mention this one or that one was a throwaway in garbage time.

Than it's an acknowledgment to a problem that definitely exists.

No elite Qb, or budding young elite Qb would get that advice.

But a struggling one that can barely get out of his own way, yeah, don't dare mess with your diminishing stats.

I think the coaches told him to do that because it was 4th and a million and they didn't want the pats to take over and put more points up

What? Pretty much every qb, especially the elite, are protective of their stats. Most QB's dump it off. I kinda like that he took a shot. It's one if the very few good things I could say about him right now.

Phil Simms' logic was 'don't throw that pass because you don't want the media asking you about turnovers all week.' Or something like that.

Really, Phil?

I needed a touchdown for a backdoor cover so I was happy he threw it, regardless of where it went. Much better chance on a bomb than on a ridiculous lateral play.

IMO, it's just that the pass was intercepted. Tannehill's interception totals have been artificially low since at least the middle of last season, with lots of drops or screw ups, like the Ravens guy who didn't get his feet in bounds. Heck, Tannehill could have had a pick six early in yesterday's game. The grab would have been impressive by the defensive back but hardly remarkable.

At least Tannehill had the guts to chuck it. As a USC alum I'm still amused every time I think of Todd Marinovich in that situation in college. He was so petrified to display how weak his arm was that he would NEVER throw that pass, either at the end of the first half or the game. The situation kept arising and Marinovich had to come up with creative ways to avoid the throw. His default was to wait until he got sacked, no matter how long it took. Once he dumped it off to a running back no more than 5 yards away. The back was shocked but my friends and I were not. We howled.

Heck, it worked. Marinovich fooled Al Davis, who somehow drafted a popgun arm in the first round.

The only thing that pissed me off about that play was they showed Wallace lollygagging down the field just barely running fast enough to get within the frame.

I saw it and said no as he let it go. Cover 2 all the way. Running the ball well and of course Sherm goes to the air.

RT shouldn't have thrown that last pass, since there wasn't a Dolphin receiver nearby. He basically threw it into a crowd of Patriots.

Throw it to your own receivers. Even if it's a short pass, at least he'll have a chance to break off a long run.

There were 55 seconds left. Get the first down. It didn't have to be a blind hail mary or a Cal-Stanford lateral fest.

55 seconds is plenty of time to march down the field. Just ask Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions, after they torched the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Now that was a drive. Wow.

That's the point he's making, and I agree, too.

Hey, in the big picture it meant zilch in that game. However, there wasn't a receiver within 20 yards of the throw at least. And the numbers are going to be fodder for every media member and fan. Tanne's got to have some thick skin. We'll definitely see his mental makeup.
