I have a quick question about Philbin. Since the first episode of Hard Knocks aired last Tuesday I've seen a whirwind of speculation about whether or not Philbin will be a good or bad fit for the Fins. Now that the whole Chad Johnson sideshow has played out it seems that players (aka Karlos Dansby) are now expressing their sentiments on the situation. I've heard anything from Philbin is soft and is sheepish when confronting players to him being a dictator and unapproachable. Although the axe fell quick for Chad Johson I thought it was warranted (and I admit I was a supporter of Johnson at first). With him being cut it shows other players that stupid acts won't go without punishment and nobody's job is safe (cough cough Vontae). So do you all think that Philbin is headed in the right direction with this team?

Love coach Philben. Seems very level headed...Unfortunately our society seems to think the guy that barks the loudest, breaks **** and puts on a general show is better(See Rex Ryan). Some would try to compare him to Cam-Cam and to some degree I would say the demeanor is somewhat similar. However, I get the sense that Philbin unlike Cam knows what hes doing and doesn't seemed overwhelmed with everything.

Philbin's actions speak a lot louder than Karlos's words. I applaud Philbin and what he is building in Miami.

So far he's doing good but we will have to wait until the season is over.

Philbin is like the quiet assassin. He doesn't say much or Scream and Yell, like the BP/Sparano types, but, he gives fare warning and then acts on it. He reminds me of my Martial Arts Teacher back in the day, very stern and cerebral, but got his point across when needed. And was one hell of a mentor and teacher. You come to respect those types more quickly over, fearing the BP types.

So far he's doin great!!!!!

Finally it's comforting to feel that there's a smart grownup with a vision steering the ship. You can pick apart any coach including BB for shelling out those trade pieces last season for Ocho.. and especially ones like the flavor of the year, Fisher who in reality was fired not quit after less than half of all his seasons resulting in being winning ones.

Let the process play out. I am nothng but encouraged to date.

Coach stuck to his guns, On Hard knocks, he pulls Chad aside and warns him about acting like a profesional and not a clown, then a few days later he gets arrested for some bone head move. If the coaching staff let that slide it would have been a green light for anyone to do what they wanted. This is a clear warning to the team that there is a new sheriff in town and you need to leave the crap at the door........
As for Dansbys comments, he and the defense as a whole should be ashamed of the preformance they put on the other night against the Bucs. He needs to shut his mouth and fix the defensive problems before they face Carolina or Cam is going to embarrass them even worse.

As far as respect of his players, Philbin will be fine. I believe he has been very fair and has also held people accountable. Its also very clear now who was behind the Brandon Marshall exit. Philbin has no tolerance for selfish players.

Love Philbin. Speak softly and carry a big stick type of leadership. I hate those rah rah types of leaders who often speak without thinking first. Hopefully he continues to receive the full support of ownership, and get this franchise heading in the right direction!

I agree, so far so good with Joe. I really respect how he's run the team both practice wise and how he's related to the players. It's refreshing to see a coach maintain his integrity and actually follow up on his threats after telling Chad how he'll be expected to represent the organization. As far as the X's and O's go, the jury will be out until a season or two have concluded, but as far as being a leader that a coach needs to be, so far so good. I could be wrong but it's my opinion that Cam wouldn't have handled the situation with Chad the same way.

Philbin was my choice from the very beggining when we were looking for a new HC and he has done nothing to make me think I was wrong for wanting that to happen.

Not sure how much of this falls on Philbin. He had said he wanted to talk to Chad first before any decision was made but rumors were that the Front Office (Probably Ireland and Ross among others) wanted to cut Chad immediately. I think cutting Chad was the right move but Chad is a guy that some of the players liked it seems so it's a delicate situation in the locker room.

Miami Dolphins = Packers South, this guy will mold this team to what he was apart of in Green Bay, the culture that is.
