Odd that the knock on Philbin is that he couldn't get a close win, always seemed to lose in heartbreaking fashion. On the other hand Gase has a great record in close games yet gets blown out in his losses. At the end of the day a loss is a loss, but why do they tend to lay such stinkers with this staff?

If a loss is a loss, what’s the point of comparing philbin’s losses to gase’s losses? This thread makes me queasy.

I meeeeeean why be ignorant? You can show up and compete in a hard fought NFL game which most games turn out being or you can be unfocused give poor effort and get your ass kicked. I think there is a big difference in those types of losses.

So you wanna be the browns? Browns haven’t been shutout this year and have pretty much been in every game this year. But they’re fighting so hard.

The way this team has been playing in 2017, there won't be much difference between it and the Browns by season's end unless something changes in a major way.

The reason why we made the playoffs last year was because we won the games we should have and then stole one or two we shouldn't. Philbin's teams never made the playoffs because we lost a lot of games we shouldn't have.

Out of all the coaches we've had since Wannstadt, there wasn't a coach who routinely had his team looking competitive more than Philbin. We looked like the better, more capable team a surprising number of times. None of that matters at all if you don't seal the win. Philbin was even worse than post-2008 Sparano at reeling in wins when they were there for the taking.

The better teams in this league make the playoffs regularly partially because of QB play and partially because regardless of their roster strength their coaching staffs don't coach wins away like Philbin did.

All I know is this Gase offense is the worst I’ve ever seen. It’s abysmal.

Controled our own destiny to get in the playoffs two straight years heading into final game. Jets beat us both times.

Difference is black and white. Gase: winning record. Philbin: Losing record. Until that changes, what’s the point of this conversation?

The browns don't have a qb (tannehill) or rb or WRs like we have. Nor the front 7 we have. They don't have anyone like Reshad jones. Your ignorance is pretty embarrassing

Browns last 40 games: 4-36
Dolphins last 39 games: 20-19

Dolphins are not the Browns

The difference between the Dolphins and the Browns at the end of the season will be about 7 wins, actually.

If the Dolphins keep playing this way, pay attention to the pointspreads the Dolphins and the Browns have against similar competition during the final three games of the season.

It'll be then that the power rankings used to determine pointspreads have the Dolphins and Browns at the very bottom of the league, with the Dolphins' having devolved to that point over the next six games, and the difference between them in terms of pointspreads against similar competition will be negligible.

Now, that says nothing about the Dolphins with Tannehill. I'm speaking about the current season and the way the Dolphins are currently playing, only.
