I really like joe, I like what he has been able to accomplish with the little that he has. The team is well managed and disciplined. However; he needs to grow a pair, especially with a young qb and a young kicker. 4th and 2 from your own 50 yard line with 3 minutes to go and you punted. What is the thinking there? You play to win and that means at that point keeping possession with running the clock out in mind. He is probably kicking himself silly right now,

I would have liked to see a play that if completed is beyond the sticks. The reason it was 4th and 2 was because the play called for a catch and then break a tackle and get the first down. They don't work often enough. That was really crunchtime and Sherman should have called a play designed to gain enough yardage to get the first.

How bout we try to throw it INTO the endzone more than once every time we get near it. Tired of grtting in the redzone and not even taking a shot at a td.

This x100000000000. Been saying this all yr.

"what little he has to work with"? His team spent a boat load on FA and had a ton of picks. His team is talented and they are underachieving. That is on the HC. This is not a talent issue.

Philbin is working with more talent on this team than Sparano ever had, yet the results are the same or worse...

I think coaching had more to do with our failures than talent.

Let's not forget that Sparano helped guide a 1 win team to a division championship in one year. You think that team was stacked? That team had far less talent than this one. Yes, Pennington had a great efficient year, but Tannehill has greater physical tools than penny.

The running game was much better under Sparano, but that's on Philbin. He had the opportunity to keep Reggie paired up with Miller, but chose to go with the unproven because his ego couldn't handle Bush's leadership threat to him.

wait, what? Philbin needs to grow some hair?!! sorry hommes, don't think dudes at Bosley could cultivate that dome

I'm no Philbin hater but I'm not sold on him either.....he has good talent, he shows signs of a good coach but the results are the same, .500....a good coach takes a average team and gets a couple of more wins out of them, he has yet to do this...I think any descent coach can get 8-9 wins with this roster, a good coach should get 10-11 I don't see this happening....if he would win the games he is supposed to he would be there.....Buffalo, Ravens and Tampa come to mind, we win two of those we are in the driver seat for a wild card

A good coach ensures halftime leads. Gets with his players, gets them up, keeps them. So what does he do? Sends his asst. coaches to keep the team fighting? Philbin is no the man for the job I thought he was.
The man is in over his head. Cam was a great OC, sucky HC. Looks like JP falls in that line too.

and if the conversion failed, you'd bitch about that too.

Ron Rivera had no problem going for it on 4th down at his own 20 with 1 time out and like 2 min and 30 seconds left.

I would bet my life Philbin would have punted and played defense. When will we have a coaching staff that is aggressive and knows when to go for it on 4th. I don't think Philbin realized the importance of yesterdays game. Otherwise we would have played to win and not to lose.

More talent? Are you looking at the pre season roster or today's roster? Not excusing the bad coaching at all but lets not act like this team is swimming in talent right now.

Obviously there was more talent pre-injury, but this team is building leads on the likes of Carolina and NE, if not for talent, how is this possible? Exceptional coaching? That is obviously not the case, so the only explanation is that there is talent on this team to compete with upper echelon teams.

BINGO...wtf, we seem to wait for the FG. We'll have a first inside the red and wait until third down to try to score via pass when everybody knows it and they send the farm at Tanny. Shoot, keep them off guard and take a shot or three once in a while. Especially since our running game is s*** anyway.

This is a problem I have with the play calling as a whole. You need 8 yards so you throw it 5 and expect the guy to get 3 more. Well you don't hit him in motion, we've got one dude who breaks any tackles, it's a bad call. Are you really telling me the WCO doesn't have a play that completes past 10 yards?
