Just wanted to give everyone a heads up, coach Joe will be interviewing live from the annual coaches meetings in a few minutes. Just saw Belichick's a little bit ago, as always it was super exciting....:tubes:

Edit: Wow, they went to a commercial and when they came back Joe's name wasn't on the ticker anymore. They went back to Belichick again.

Saw his comments on Twitter. To sum up:

Suh is a rare free agent
blah, blah, milktoast, blah, blah
We're keeping Dion Jordan at DE and developing his pass rush skills
Stills is young and productive
Tannehill is our QB
Blah blah <insert things we already know here> blah blah

You know the drill.

Andrew Abramson ‏@AbramsonPBP 56m56 minutes ago
Philbin says it's not really fair to say Tannehill struggles with deep ball (Ross said that yesterday). A lot of the issues are protection.

Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly 55m55 minutes ago
Joe Philbin said the team's pass protection has been a problem for the past two years. He knows Tannehill's been NFL's most sacked QB.

Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero 55m55 minutes ago
JP on OG spot: "I wouldn't rule anything out. With that said, Dallas played 300 snaps at G, 300 at T, there's a future for Dallas Thomas."

Andrew Abramson ‏@AbramsonPBP 55m55 minutes ago
Philbin says he wouldn't rule out another OG, but he likes the future of Billy Turner and Dallas Thomas.

Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly 51m51 minutes ago
"A coaches job is to develop players. We've got to have guys step up," Joe Philbin said about the youth movement.

Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly 48m48 minutes ago
Joe Philbin said the plan right now is to continue to develop Dion Jordan as a pass rusher. Not moving him to linebacker.

Andrew Abramson ‏@AbramsonPBP 39m39 minutes ago
Philbin says #Dolphins are not done adding WRs but he's not concerned about youth of WRs. He said they're not rookies, have been productive

Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly 39m39 minutes ago
"Dion Sims has developed nicely but there's still some room to see him develop," Joe Philbin said.

Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly 38m38 minutes ago
"Billy Turner is the next guy. Can he take that next step?" Joe Philbin said of the offensive guard penciled in as the starting RG.''

Andrew Abramson ‏@AbramsonPBP 33m33 minutes ago
Philbin says LB Jordan Tripp will "certainly compete for playing time." Called him smart.

Andrew Abramson ‏@AbramsonPBP 32m32 minutes ago
Philbin says "as of right now" Koa Misi is still MLB.

Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly 32m32 minutes ago
Joe Philbin said the plan is to keep Koa Misi as the middle linebacker "right now." He thinks injuries hindered what he could do.

Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly 29m29 minutes ago
Joe Philbin said Jordan Cameron runs a good route tree, and he also said the new tight end can line up at different positions.

Omar Kelly@OmarKelly 28m28 minutes ago
"We're not opposed to a power running back, but it has to fit overall to the team and contribute in different ways," Philbin said.

Armando Salguero@ArmandoSalguero 26m26 minutes ago
JP said Louis Delmas "looks good, really progressing well." Optimistic he's going to make full and "quick recovery," it seems.

Andrew Abramson@AbramsonPBP 21m21 minutes ago
Philbin says Billy Turner is right guard "at this time"

Omar Kelly@OmarKelly 17m17 minutes ago
Philbin said Jamar Taylor and Will Davis spent their first 2 seasons watching and learning. Now it's year three and they need to contribute.

Omar Kelly@OmarKelly 14m14 minutes ago
Joe Philbin said Dallas Thomas' second season was a "learning experience....He's a young player who is a little inconsistent."

Omar Kelly@OmarKelly 13m13 minutes ago
"The guy has a future. He played at three different spots. I think he has a future," Joe Philbin on Dallas Thomas.

Barry Jackson@flasportsbuzz 12m12 minutes ago
With Philbin saying today (per Fins' Greg Likens) that Brice McCain is a nickel back, it's clear Fins placing great trust in Jamar Taylor.

Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly 7m7 minutes ago
Joe Philbin went out of his way to not address Miami's courtship of Michael Crabtree & Greg Jennings.Team will likely wait to address vet WR

Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly 2m2 minutes ago
Koa Misi will remain the middle linebacker for now. Dion Jordan will remain a DE for now, & Chris McCain is the projected starter at SLBer

Philbin said there is a future for Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner. Did not rule out adding offensive linemen. Says Turner is penciled in at RG and Thomas at LG (Mathis' position). Again, I don't see how Armando draws the conclusion we are "counting on" Dallas Thomas at LG. idiot.

ArmandoArmando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero 52m52 minutes ago
Yup, they're going to count on those guys. I'm fine with Turner. Thomas NOT FINE. NOT.

Wish I saw this earlier. Would have DVR'd to help me go to sleep tonight. Missed opportunity.

Amando and Omar have been tweeting for the past hour some of the responses to questions posed to Philbin this morning by the media.

Just some of what has been tweeted

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 52m 52 minutes ago

Joe Philbin said for the Dolphins to get better at throwing the deep ball the offensive line needs to improve the protection.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 50m 50 minutes ago

Joe Philbin said Billy Turner's injury set him back a month and then when he came back he wasn't "rip roaring" in practice.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 49m 49 minutes ago

Joe Philbin said Kevin Coyle was retained because of a 3 year body of work. He wasn't pleased with the way last 6 game were played.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 44m 44 minutes ago

Joe Philbin said the plan right now is to continue to develop Dion Jordan as a pass rusher. Not moving him to linebacker.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 44m 44 minutes ago

Joe Philbin said the challenge for the defense moving forward is to simplify the defense. Said Kevin Coyle had too many packages.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 38m 38 minutes ago

Joe Philbin said they know a lot more about Ryan Tannehill now and they are trying to match up WRs with things he throws.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 38m 38 minutes ago

Joe Philbin said part of the reason the Dolphins traded for Kenny Stills is the fact he runs good routes on passes Ryan Tannehill can throw.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 38m 38 minutes ago

Joe Philbin said he wants to see Ryan Tannehill improve on his decision making, accuracy and playing well in critical moments.

Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 47m 47 minutes ago

JP on defense at end of yr.: "We need to simplify. Simplify personnel. We had too many combinations. Take advantage of strengths."

Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 47m 47 minutes ago

JP on plan for Dion Jordan: "We're going to utilize him as DE. Improve and develop his pass rush ability."

Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 47m 47 minutes ago

Jordan's days as a OLB are numbered as the plan currently stands. Team wants him to rush the passer and improve on that.

Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 27m 27 minutes ago

JP says Jordan Cameron taller than Clay and down the middle might be better and catch radius is larger. "Jordan has a real good route tree."

Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 19m 19 minutes ago

Billy Turner at RG, Dallas Thomas at LG at this time.

Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero · 18m 18 minutes ago

JP says Billy Turner at RG because he likes how he looks in his stance better that way than left hand stance.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 28m 28 minutes ago

"Lamar [Miller] was 6th in the league in third and short situations. He had some success there," Joe Philbin said of the power rushing game.

Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 28m 28 minutes ago

"We're not opposed to a power running back, but it has to fit overall to the team and contribute in different ways," Philbin said.

Gawd, that's awful news.... Jordan staying at DE, Misi starting MLB and Dallas freaking Thomas staring at LG :bobdole:

I have a feeling we really are going BPA all the way. Like no needs at all. Just the best players on the board... Hope they pick up some Landry'esque rookies or we're screwed this year....

Real talk, we haven't "missed" on a first round pick since Jake Long, and he looked like a HOFer his first few years before injuries destroyed him. I'm quite confident in our front offices abilities at #14, to say the least.

Why would they keep Jordan at DE! F*ck man, we sorely need LBs and your not going to look at one of your most talented and athletic players who fits the bill to even take a shot at it.

Why is this so difficult.

.

The ONLY one of these things that is certain is that Jordan will stay at DE. Misi is starting MLB "as of now" and all Philbin said was there is a future for Dallas Thomas. Why believe Dallas Thomas is going to be counted on as a starter? Because Armando said it? Armando is a friggen moron.

Dolphins will beef up the LBs and OL before the season. book it.

Its March 24th. To assume Misi will be our starting MLB and Dallas Thomas will be our starting LG in September is insane talk right now.

Surprising to see Billy Turner at RG. Would have thought LG since he was a LT in college. Although his mean streak and run blocking would tend to be more RG'ish.

SO the Misi Experiment isn't dead...not all surprised. They have shown a stubbornness in these situations...

1. Of course Jordan is staying at DE. He's too big and slow to be a 4-3 LBer. Ireland was a moron for trading up to draft a guy who is not a scheme fit.
2. RE: Misi and Thomas. This is coach speak. You don't throw players on your roster under the bus. We don't need to tick off Misi because even if we do get a better fit at MLB, Misi probably still starts at OLB. Also, Philbin isn't going to torch Dallas Thomas. Even if the objective is to get someone to replace him, we might draft a bust, whiff in free agency or trade, or the replacement might get hurt at any point and Dallas Thomas is going to have to start at the position the coach would have just publicly said the guy can't play.

People who expect total candor from coaches about what is in the works behind the scenes are being incredibly naive. Maybe I'm wrong and they truly don't intend to do anything about those positions, but they are the ones staking their careers on that decision. I will wait until we actually start playing games before I get too mad about anything happening in March.

The Dolphins must be the only team that hired OL guys to be HC who can figure out how to build a decent OL. First Sparano, now Philbin
