Here's a link to the video. Philbin sure does seem very relaxed and open this season.

A group of ardent fans were witness Friday to a spectacle never before on public display by a Miami Dolphins coach.

Joe Philbin danced. To hip hop.

Well, sort of. Briefly.

"I may have integrity and character, but as you can see I don't have a lot of dance moves," Philbin told the 550 supporters who paid $125 a plate to dine with Dolphins players, coaches, executives and cheerleaders at the team's annual kickoff luncheon.

The first that these fans are eager to see is Philbin on the sideline during the playoffs. There was plenty of optimism about the coming season served with the baked chicken.

"We've got the best roster that we've had in the three years we've been here," said Philbin, who showed off his dance moves at the urging of quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Defensive tackle Randy Starks added, "I think we have a good defense and I expect to be in the postseason. Why else would we be here?"
"I love the offense," said Tannehill, who got one of the biggest cheers. "Coach Lazor wants to spread the field both vertically and horizontally. We have the guys to do that."

Hartline, who in his sixth season has played in several different systems, said, "There's a lot of things we're doing that we haven't done in the past."

While the occasion gave fans a chance to become familiar with the faces inside the helmets, players appreciated the show of support.

"It means everything to know that we have the backing. It means everything to know that all our hard work doesn't go unnoticed as a team. We're trying to accomplish something here in Miami, to bring back a championship," rookie receiver Jarvis Landry said.

"In this setting, you're around a lot of successful people. You want to pick their brains a little bit about how they've stayed so successful for so long."

Damn, $125 for baked chicken?!?

Yep, that's what I took from that.

I think a hundred and twenty-five smackers for the kickoff club luncheon is actually pretty reasonable.

It's not my cup of tea, but in the grand scheme of things, I'm much more outraged by what they charge for tickets and concessions at the actual games.

Good to see coach loosen up a bit.

Definitely see some positive changes in Philbin this year.....seems much looser and maybe even having a bit of fun..........great to see.

That was the schmoney dance!!!

Well at least Philbins version...lol.

I like coach loosening up. Seems very comfortable in his own skin and not so uptight.

I remember coach Philbins media rounds when he first became our coach. What I distinctly remember was him saying that like his players he too need to learn, grow, and develop as a coach. It's why I never made final judgement on the man until a few years in. Not all great coaches are instantaneous. Landry being the best example, sometimes they too need time to grow into what they can become.

Doesn't mean Philbin is or will become a great coach, just that not all hope is lost yet. And his willingness to adapt this season is a positive sign.

Good to see coach loosen up a bit.

Louis Delmas was recently on finsiders and said that a lot of guys are lovin Philbin this year. He's turned a new leaf. As we ALL know, sometimes that is easier said then done. Props to Philbin. Hope it translates to better production on the field. Delmas also said he was gonna help Philbin with some dance moves, but obviously with a guy like Philbin (and me for that matter) it's a lost cause. :-)

Wouldn't see Bellicheat doing that

He doesn't need to when he can out-coach 99.9% of the league with his game plans alone.

The reason why he's so successful is because he is super accessible to his players. He makes himself available and listens to their input. Heck, in one of the Super Bowls he scrapped his game plan and went with Vince Wilfork's suggestions instead. That's how you get your players trust and desire to win for you - value their input and creativity. Something Philbin is starting to do, from reports.

One time I had an offensive coordinator in college that was the worst. The defense was running a cover 3 with no lbs to the flats the entire game and I told him that curls, slants, outs, screens were becoming open the entire game from what I saw on the field. He told me to never suggest anything to him again and benched me. He then proceeded to keep going deep and we lost the game with our QB throwing int after int. I stopped trying or having any desire to win after that for that coach. Coaching is mostly about connecting to your players while leading them.
